K3 Random Double Exposure

I had an odd malfunction while shooting with my K3 Saturday. It was a cold morning, around 25 to 28 degrees F and I had been outside for about two hours. The battery level was showing 3/4ths green. The train can into view and I tried to take three photos. I heard the camera fire rapidly twice, then a single frame. Unfortunately, somehow the K3’s brain decided to double expose the first two shots, then reverted to normal for the third. So, instead of getting the photo I’d waited to capture, I got a novelty shot and two unusable frames.
The cold weather is probably the culprit, but why double exposures? The camera has less than 5,000 clicks on the shutter, so I know it’s not worn out.

Weird. Was the camera inadvertently put in double exposure mode? That's happened before to other users, as it's pretty easy to overlook.

Does the multiple exposure drive mode show in exif data normally?

I’ve done that before, and self timer. This time it was still on continuous/low. The last shot of the sequence was normal.
This joins a list of one time only brain seizures this K3 has had. Random blank frame. Locked-up mirror. No response to shutter button. Burst of about fifty frames . AF non-responsive. All have happened only a single time.

My K3 does the unwanted double shot with the battery comes with it.
in my case, the double shot always comes first and if I keep using it long enough, let's say an hour more, the camera will either freeze or mirror locked up until I remove the battery.
I have 3 batteries, only the one comes with K3 cause this problem. Try with different battery and see if the camera react the same?
