Just came across this auction on ebay UK:
Pentax K-3 16.3MP DIGITAL Camera Body (NO lenses) - BOXED 27075274419 | eBay

Shuttercount: 152648

Well, I wouldn't buy it with this heavy use for this price but it it worthwhile noticing!

16.3 MP too. That's a lot of dead pixels because it started out at 24 MP.

One question, not so much regarding the topic.

The original link starts with http go skimresources ; and that makes ublock origin go ape as an untrusted source.

If I quote you, the link appears as ebay co uk no problem.

Is the forum automatically adding this "skimresources" url ?

This forum's not adding anything. I can only assuming something got added by the OP.

This forum's not adding anything. I can only assume that's an e-bay thing. I've not seen it happen with other links. And I have tested it. It happens for me too with e-bay links, but not other sites.

My shutter count is 135,508. And that's with most of my landscape work now being done with my K-1.

Has anyone actually had a K-3 die?

135508 /24 = 5646 rolls of film. At say $10 after processing and printing 4x6s = $56,460.
I've already saved $54,460.

What a deal.

If I get to 200,000 exposures I'll have saved over $70,000.

Yes. Ebay links used to go through go.pentaxforums.com, but this did not support HTTPS, so we have switched over to using the skimlinks domain that does. This is in response to Google Chrome's new guidance on eliminating old HTTP redirections.

Norm, you need to go work in retail clothing. Whenever I go into Kohls to buy a $30 pair of jeans they tell me I just saved $90 because it was originally priced at $110 but they did me a huge favor by marking it down 70%+.

Of course almost no one would take $70k in film pictures, they'd take far fewer photos than is possible today. I remember coming back from two-week trips prior to digital and spending $200+ on film developing. I'd get maybe a 50% keeper rate with 4x6s or APS images, and my standards for what constituted a keeper were far lower than today. I probably have 20-30 good images from film from a trip to Iceland in 2001. I have a gorgeous 40- or 50-page book including a bunch of large prints from Iceland in 2018 using the K-3ii and K-30. The book cost less than the developing and printing from 20 years ago, and I have unlimited use of all the much higher quality source files.

I did have to replace the shutter on my Spotmatic, and it only lasted a few more years after i did. That was really a thing.

Of course, I used to do a 2 week vacation and take 10 rolls, I'd shoot a roll on every good shooting day, only 240 images, 120 a week. On my summer trip, I took almost 900 with the K-1. With the K-3 and K-1 I took about 500 yesterday afternoon.

That being said, the images I get with digital far surpassed anything I ever did with film.

And if you've ever read how much film National Geographic sent out with their photographers, you'd know, those who had to come back with 7 or 8 printable images for each location and setup, probably did shoot $70k in film and went through a series of camera bodies doing it.
