Knowing me I probably misread it hoping that it did have AF during movie recording. I'm sure it will be an improvement over the K5 anyway.
I wouldn't be too bothered about no AF in videos, if the Nikon D7100 test videos are anything to go by. Most of them when using its AF look amateurish, it often focuses on the wrong thing momentarily when the camera is moved or objects in the field of view move, and that would just drive me crazy. But having priority and manual control of video and audio available on K-3 video will be a big plus for me.

Derek, the Q10 and Q7 do mention AF during movie mode both in the manual (P108) and on the RICOH product site.

(Pressing OK performs AF during movie recording)

It would seem to me that AF on a Pentax dSLR during movie mode would be right up there with the selectable AA filter as an exciting new feature. We'd be hearing a lot about it.
I see it there, but not in the specs. I have seen it in the manuals.

I think you'll find that Mode functions are listed as features, not as a specification.

I'm certainly not a videographer but my daughter is a broadcast TV News Producer. This certainly isn't a perfect example, but she claims her shooters manual focus because they have better control that way.

Just sayin'.

Yup, when you have the luxury of sending out a cameraman, a reporter, and an assistant out to a shot, then it makes sense to manual focus.

I'm more often than not a one man crew, setting up the camera, lights, audio, and then conducting the interview. In those situations I'll take all the electronic aids that I can get.

It's funny, after shooting some video myself, I totally appreciate the long list of credits at the end of a movie now!

I've been reading some good things about video from the D7100, the K-3's natural competitor, including good dynamic range and uncompressed video output from the HDMI port, some even rating it as good as the Canon 5D3. Lets hope the K-3 is as good; uncompressed HDMI would be sweet.

I have downloaded it with maximum quality several hours ago. The video was deleted! Does it mean final firmware will give significantly better video and Ricoh forced to remove the video?

You would be surprised how often even a broadcast Network Evening News segment is done with local talent and one universal camera/audio/light technician - and the "Producer" is the assistant.

so is there anyone with the pre-production or whatever version of the K-3 and could tell us what is the video bit rate? This mystery is just killing, does the Professional H.264 video mean that Pentax Ricoh gave it better technical specification? Higher bit rate, better compression method, improved the DR?

Hopefully one day it will be a regular practice for manufacturers to mention video bit rates in specifications as they do for still images.

I am so curious about the more in detail video specifications of k-3.

I think the lack of this information is indicative of where Pentax is targeting the K-3. If they were really targeting the serious pro-am market, I'd imagine that they'd have this information readily available. That's, for example, what Panasonic does with the GH cameras.

So until someone gets their hands on one and starts putting it through its paces, I'm assuming that the video features will be a step forward for Pentax but likely fall short of leaders like the 5D3, GH3, etc...

I'd be happy to be wrong on this one.

Basing on numbers given in specs (1GB=4.04min of 1080p30) it should be around 33Mbps, right?
