Yes ok, but I'm surprised 'tis all. I like to have options, even if I end up sticking to one.

Could you post another unedited sample, this time of a regular outdoor scene, please

EDIT: Ah, you posted as I was posting..
Overcast is fine for me

Actually, overcast doesn't show much for dynamic range...same as when you take photos outdoors w/ overcast skies. It's not that difficult to retain detail in shadows and highlights. When the sun comes out, you have much harsher shadows and need around 3 more stops of range IIRC...

Interesting that there's an HDR option for video....should be interesting to see what that does. And funny that there's no quality option for the K-3's video...definitely a step back

Just for you... recorded with Sigma 10-20 3.5

I got the bright idea to use my own website to store these files - duh... Although I need to sort some stuff with it... (my domain name is currently pointing to somewhere NSFW lol) FIXED! Yay :) DNS records are slow to propagate

Excellent, thanks. Lovely Sydney weather you're having
It's cool up here near Cairns, but sunny at least..

I'll take a closer look at what can be done in APP but it seems a few steps better than the K-01. I see moire on the roof of one home and I assume you had SR enabled? Didn't look as bad as some have been suggesting.
Thanks again.

Well, it's a welcome change - yesterday was quite sunny and hot and there were actually a couple grass fires going on 5-10minutes out where I live... Hopefully the rain increases!

Yes, SR was enabled - it's not too bad for slow panning.

Yes, you've not had a good time of it in NSW.. The rain sure would be a useful I agree.

Did you have the picture style set to flat? Full minus contrast and sharpness for example? It looks quite contrasty so I assume you left it at a default picture setting. Nevertheless, I could still pull some details out of the dark shadows.
Thanks again. Look forward to whenever you can post more examples..

Yep.. no "Digital Filter" as it's described in the menu screen shot I posted earlier... So it's a pretty accurate reproduction of outside

I'm actually referring to the picture style rather than digital filters. I assume this is similar to how one sets up the K-7, K-01 and Q ? (Page 57 of the K-3 PDF)

Here's how I have setup the K-01 for movie clips.
This makes it easy to work with in post.

Oh, right... or "Custom Image" as it's called... I had it left as "Bright" or the default... which I guess is everything neutral.. no adjustments on anything.

Got any recommended or requested settings? I'll see what I can do.

Lol yes, both terms are used to confuse us as the manual writes
QuoteQuote:
When you want to take pictures with a slightly different style,
you can set the desired picture style before shooting.
Try out the various settings, and find your best picture style
But yes, in the actual menu it's says Custom Image you're right.

Sure, select the muted preset then fully minus the contrast, contrast highlights and sharpness (That's fully to the left).
Shoot some near and far scenes with your sharpest lens. That should give me something to work with.. Thanks!

Quick question

Does the k3 finally have auto focus in video?
I hardly ever use my K5IIS just for this fact...find trying to focus in live view just useless

Thanks

No auto focus in video. But that's not something important. Other brands do it but on their expensive models.

First, video quality and shake reduction, video auto focus is something rather secondary.

There is in fact autofocus in video. Hit the AF button while shooting and it focuses. A bit unsatisfactory as it is slow and CDAF (hunts), but it is there.
