OK, I'll take your source over mine. Either way, it's interesting that the price of an SLR hasn't changed dramatically, as you might have expected. Of course, the image capture technology has changed dramatically, but it's still a rugged, reliable mid-range SLR. However, now I come to think about it, the Spotmatic F came with a 50/f1.4, so if we add the price of a DA*55/f1.4 ($749 from the Pentax web-store) to the K-3, the total price would be around $2,100. At this distance, I'd be hard put to recall the discount I negotiated on the SP-F, but I suspect it was around 10%, maybe $20. Using the RBA figures, that $230 inflates to about $1,860.
So, if the comparison is valid, the price of a Pentax SLR has risen about 12.5% since 1974, but if we consider that the flagship SLR of the time was the ES, the situation might be a little different. Unhappily, I don't have any information to do this calculation for the ES.
