Thanks twitch....but I was of the understanding that the silver version is not a special edition but one of the colors we can go for....as in a standard package....just like the k50...am I incorrect to think this?

Silver is supposed to be limited to 2000 units total, divided among all regions.

I read somewhere that only 50 are coming to the UK. SRS Microsystems are advertising them for pre-order.

After thinking about it all afternoon I bit the bullet and ordered the Silver set from the Pentax Australia web store. Although I am annoyed by the whole limited edition concept at least I will get it in the colour I want which will (sort of) match my FA24, FA43 and FA77 which always looked a bit funny on a black body. In fact if it was only available in black I would probably have passed it by, but the right colour and the cumulative improvements over the K5 won me over. The big bonus was paying the same price as it would cost in the US market while having a local warranty.

Now I just have to wait and see if CR Kennedy actually gets allocated enough stock to fill my order.

I was soo tempted to order the silver one, but I've never used my battery grips, so black it is. I remember when a black body was a premium option from Pentax!

Can't wait!

well, I have Silver K-3 + grip + special strap + Extra battery + 8GB Flucard arriving on the 01NOV,
all that for AU$1609 posted, c'mon people that can not be right?
so the silver limited is actually cheaper than black one?
is it all plastic? does it actually work or is it just a display version? no can not be.....
deeply puzzled but very happy

I ordered mine yesterday through B&H with the grip and a battery. Went with black.

I hadn't seen this thread until now, but I too have taken the plunge with the Silver K3. I trust its availability for pre-order means that they haven't exhausted their allocation yet? Fingers crossed.

That's where I ordered mine. They show it as "special order" but went ahead with the purchase anyway.
