Well it needs to be much faster then the transferrate for Eye-Fi to be a real workable tool I think.

Apparently the FLUcard is a webserver and wifi hotspot. No app needed to view or download images, but FLU makes apps to simplify things. My guess is that the Pentax FLUcard will use standard protocols to communicate to the camera via the webserver ~~for controls like adjusting shutter, aperture, etc.~~ EDIT: Maybe not. I'm finding more "official" information that says the Pentax FLUcard and app will only allow remote shutter release and viewing images after shooting, not remote live view or full tethered control. I hope this is wrong, but somehow...

What I would hope is that the FLU/K-3 can be configured with an IP and connect to my home wireless router so I can connect/map a drive from my PC.

I am definitely intrigued by this card as I would love to have tethering! Also saw some AWESOME tethering apps for the ipad for Canon and Nikon at WPPI this year. Having the ability to remotely control a camera with iphone would be cool too. I wonder what the range is. Can I work my camera placed on the far side of a track at a track and field event? Across a gym at a basketball game? While the camera is attached to a remote controlled helicopter?

Ah! there are actually some of the questions answered on the FLU site:

Question:Can I access the contents of my FLUCARD® PRO if my PC is using a wired network connection?Answer: Yes. you can do so by:
1. Using an external WIFI dongle.
2. Via router. Email us at support@trek2000.com.sg for more information.

From the specs on the Flu site:
Wireless Range:Camera to Wi-Fi Devices: 20m (Typical)

Camera to Camera
up to 6 m (Camera model applies)

(Note: Wireless range varies with camera body design.)

I queried a UK rep' who did say the card won't be a general Flu card but is a joint development with Ricoh... Which comes as a relief as the Flu-pro.com site didn't look to have been updated for years.

We all need to remember this is a Perntax proprietary card co-engineered with Flu. It will apparently permit actions that are not available on a regular Flu card, such as the claimed tethering.

The lower tier cameras (at least) have embedded menus that are called up only when an Eye-Fi card is inserted - which were co-engineered with Eye-Fi.

For the special tethering; live view, camera control, etc, PSA said no - a firmware update might provide that functionality. As to whether they do that... hmmmm
