Wow, that's borderline tragic I'd say. Not a peep about it on their web site- what's going on?

Yes, that is pretty bad. At least the K-3 is available from Canadian retailers.

What is with Pentax Americas undercutting their dealers? I hear they're offering a lower K-3 price than Adorama and B&H. I'm shocked, that is very poor dealer relations.

It's probably just "a mistake".

There does appear to be a link to the press release now, though the product menus have yet to be updated. And the news seems to be taking a while to trickle down to my favourite retailers.

That is pretty sad... perhaps, they are under-staffed. Except for Henry's, other retailers don't even have the K-3 on the list or taking orders.

I talked to The Camera Store in Calgary yesterday. They didn't know any more than we do, but would let me know after talking to the rep later this week.

This is "normal" ... Pentax (Ricoh) Canada has pretty much always been retarded in showing their new stuff.

I've also talked (went to) to the local Pentax seller here and guess what? He didn't even know about the K5II and K5IIs !!!
Do you think he knows about the K3? Not a chance! I had to show him the K3 via Pentax Forums ... talk about being ignorant.

This store carries lots of Panasonic and Sony stuff ... lots of P&S too ... no Canikon's !
He tried to sell me a Sony NEX a while back but I concluded that if he doesn't know about Pentax (which he sells), chances are he knows fuddle about the other brands.
He's obviously there for the commission!

What I usually do when I decide to get a new Pentax camera is to check the price this store will have and order it through them. This at least will get me a full Canadian warranty (2 years) and option to "buy" more if I want to. The glitch: quite expensive for even only one additional year.

On the other hand, I have never ordered a camera from the USA ... would be less expensive but the problem is: the warranty is limited to the "international" warranty and I think it is only one year if I go that way, unless I am wrong saying this.

Wow, that's sad. Where is that store ? My local one stocks Pentax and has a good relation with the rep.

Calgary Camera said that Pentax is quick to get product out after announcement compared to other brands. Ricoh seemed to hold everything close to their vest outside of the testing communities.

There are several stores in Edmonton that usually carry the latest Pentax cameras/lenses but non of the sites for said stores have updated with the K3 for pre-order or anything. Which is fine, I just would have thought at least Ricoh Canada of all places would have the info up that it exsists at this point of the game.

London Drugs Photo Dept staff off to Whistler for new product introduction. Told to come by after the 20th from full information. Their price for the DA* 60-250 better than Amazon or B&H. Worth the wait.

I was always satisfied by the service at Photo Gosselin in Quebec city where the staff I met were knowledgeable and did not try to convince me to switch to Canon. Actually I bought my 70-200 2.8 and 10-17 on two separate occasions and in both occasion I saw them sell a k-30.

Another anecdote happened 2 years ago at Lozeau in Montreal. I was going to take a look at a D7000 admitedly to switch systems when the store employee who helped me convinced me that instead I should invest in better glass for my Pentax...

He told me about his big pro canon which was now unusable because water had entered the body. That was after he asked me where I usually take my camera (outdoors, fishing, etc) and he spared no efforts praising Pentax ruggednesss.
