JPEG **** Gone?

Seems that the "Premium" setting is gone (according to the spec’s: ★★★ Best, ★★ Better, ★ Good). Somebody scared by large files? ;-)

Meh, having 4 settings was sort of pointless anyway. You can't do better than "best", after all

Yes, bad English. Doesn’t bother me (RAW+ with JPEG***), but there are still some lone JPEG-shooters in the wild, I have heard.

@Lowell: That’s the K-3 board, isn’t it?

Why would they be worried?

A star system is a relative scale. Why would it mean a 33% reduction in top end quality?

This is reminiscent of the scene in 'Spinal Tap' where Nigel Tufnell is telling the journalist his Marshall amplifier has a volume knob that goes to 11 instead of the usual 10.

TIFF would be nice, BTW, in place of 4-star JPEG.

You can do the TIFF yourself in post from the RAW, Adam, just as such a feature in the camera would do - minus the performance hit!

Not in place, no no no. Last thing I need is 40mb files when my RAWs are only 20mb.

No, the 60 frames are at the highest quality setting. It can do up to 200 jpegs in basic mode (1 star).

Thanks Adam. I was referring to the reduced **** to*** quality to make it happen at 60 fps. I am one of those renegade JPEG shooters that Alfie mentioned.

Cheers.

Me too. And I shoot in 6MP 3* for the most part. Beat that!
