We'll be sure to do a detailed K-5 IIs vs K-3 comparison in our review. Pentax should be sending us a review unit very shortly, so we may have the review up before the camera hits the shelves.

You can expect the K-3 to do a bit better than the K-5 IQ-wise, but it's not going to be as big of a jump as the K-5 was compared to the K-7. However, as far as features go, the difference is much bigger.
I hope you could do a test on continous AF accuracy. For instance on a car at 50km/h. And with both SDM and screwdrive lenses.

As much as I love to hit the pre-order button, there are some other priorities including a 3week trip to South-africa very shortly. Usually I`ll also wait for the first tests and reviews so I guess the K-3 is gonna be a Xmas present to myself

I'm leaving for Peru in three weeks' time. Even if a K-3 could find its way to me before I leave (which it won't), I prefer to test a new camera and get to know it before taking it on a trip like that. I'm sure that when I return there will be ample reviews and first impressions to read through. I'll probably order one then, with grip and who knows also with a new standard zoom?

Note that it's my DA*16-50/2.8 that's due for replacement much more than my K-5. It's not my K-5 that I will be worrying about in Peru (as I did when I had to take my K-7 along to India, remembering every evening that a K-5 with much better high ISO would be waiting for me on my return). My DA*16-50/2.8's AF needs to be woken up every morning before a day's shooting, and I always worry it will abandon me...

Conclusion: my K-3 will hopefully come in early December. Just in time for a birthday/Xmas present.

Whenever my K10D gives out....
That's another factor for me, too. I have one little voice telling me that 10 megapixels isn't much these days and I'm overdue for an upgrade....but then I get the K10D in the right light and remember, "Oh yeah...that's why I haven't done it yet."

My K5 is superb, but...... the K3 seems to be superbsuperb! I'll think I'll buy it in 2014.

In the spring perhaps. $1300 is a lot of money... for anything. I have my old K10D and a K01, it's not like I can't take any good photos. I do wish for the K3, but I can wait a while longer.

I just dropped a grand on a 6x7 setup and film related development. I think my k30 will suffice for digital. Especially since I don't have any autofocus lenses!

Perhaps near the end of your trip, your K-5 might get stolen, but lucky for you with your least favorite lens and a blank card in it? Anything is possible over here even if you are careful, always insure your camera equipment Hell, they robbed my brother of his T3i in Israel a few years ago...

I am already sold on it, but I have not fully utilised my K-r yet. For example, thanks to the forums here, I was advised that I have time interval shooting in k-r that I never knew, because I was searching in the manual under time lapse photography.

I will wait for February 2014 when I get bonus. In the meantime, I will be exploiting my K-r to its fullest possibilities.

I have pre-ordered a silver limited edition K-3, but I suspect I will want a second one if it turns out to be as kick-arse as I expect.

I will have a chance to evaluate the K-3 pretty well by the time Black Friday comes along. If there is a killer deal from B&H or Adorama at the time I will consider it, otherwise I will buy from Australia.

On the other hand, I may decide that the K-5 IIs is quite good enough as a second body....

My K10D is probably around the 100,000 mark - I have had a 1Ds Mk III shutter fail after 20,000 firings.
