I should have said this thread is "for Wookies only"
Otis has never heard of a "Wookie" but he loves the sound of it! Can you give him a definition? He's been going around all afternoon calling other squirrels "Wookies"!

Regards!

Look at what Ricoh has done over the last year and a bit. They have a 4 step DSLR line now, from the K500 K50 K5II(s) and now K3. They have the GR, the Q, the MX the optio waterproof line.
The K-500/K-50 were rehashes of the K-30 in a different body. The only influence Ricoh's probably done in those were on the exterior design. The IIs release came late probably also due to Ricoh's influence, waiting for the SAFOX X to be fully developed before releasing the camera so to implement it (and make it a compelling decision-changer for upgraders), but technically it's still a Hoya thing. Technically the K-3 is the first Ricoh DSLR; the Q7 was probably in the works along with the MX-1. I do hope Ricoh's also delayed a successor to the 645D because they were waiting for something to mature too...

Maybe Ricoh has seen the recent spanner dropping by Dslr manafacturers inc Pentax and decided they arn't playing that game and will release cameras when their ready fro release not 6 months before

Well, Ricoh did not have inventory problems; they can release cameras in time and when they are ready and polished up, and not be burdened with involuntary build-up of old inventory. Say in Canon's and Nikon's case (see Amazon for example), 2-3 years old cameras are current best sellers — which is very dangerous. Imagine the K-r is current best seller for Pentax, and we have K30 and the K50 on on the shelves too ... Brrr.

That is one big advantage many overlook with smaller players; easier manoeuvrability when the production is controlled and carefully measured up. I sincerely hope K-3 will follow the same route as the GR — deliberately undersupplied and in demand.

What is D5300? It means Nikon has 3-4 generations of the same tier cameras now on the market?
Which is some ... 10-12 DSLR models in total?
You must be kidding?!?

I think they used Toshiba sensor rather, like in the D5200/D7100...

DPR Pentax insider stated firmly that there is a new Sony sensor inside K-3.

Right, that's not being disputed. They're talking about the sensor in the new D5300.

I guess my wording was wrong, pardon. What I meant was Pentax being the first to make multi-colored bodies through the K-x (the K-m/K2000, well, to some extent...)
