I;m hopeless at judging relatively subjective aspects of sample images without two images to compare, but there seems to be a LOT of detail at 100% in that first shot. it'd be great to have the same shot with the same lens from a k5 classic to compare.

ps - I like the two portrait shots, but it's probably nothing to do with the camera / lens, lol......

Bit concerned about the blown highlights in that portrait shot of the girl.

None of Franks photos are there. He's run out of bandwidth with his flickr account.
Maybe the .jp site samples link might have been mentioned on one of the pages, but essentially it's Frank's thread but there are no photos to comment on.
Whereas, this thread is specific to the Japanese samples site.

Bob, there are lot's of threads discussing the K-3 at the moment and lot's of points covered in all of them which may overlap with points raised or links posted in other threads.
It's the nature of forums and to be frank, I don't see that having been "already discussed elsewhere" should be any reason to not further discuss a single topic in a new thread.

That is awesome detail and resolution. Not being funny or anything but look at the hair on her lips and the detail in her skin. I bet she wished for some moisturizer before that shot? All in all I like it.

Now that is a fine lens on that camera, but it does look to me the same level of detail and resolution as my Dad's FF Nikon D800. Granted the Nikon has more pixels even than the K3 but my K5 wouldn't produce this level of detail even with a prime.

Amazing shots - the amount of detail I can see is definitely out of what I've already seen with any APS-C camera to-date. This is amazing and so great as people who are more into macro or telephoto photography will be able to have even more detail with greatest reach possible. Now I ask myself what do we need that full frame for ? And the only answer I have is for FOV and DOF - but especially wide angle shots I guess. That's a perfectly valid reason for me to hold on for those who are into this sort of photography - the rest of us - we better preorder NOW

BTW - did you all notice the perfect smoothness of OOF areas ?? I wonder if they used noise reduction or other PP or these are straight from the camera. Even if the noise removal was activated - the amount of finest detail and the lack of grain tells me that it is perfectly balanced.
