Silver is Sold Out

I snoozed and losed. Was seriously considering pre-ordering of the K-3 Silver yesterday morning and when I finally decided to pull the trigger last night, it was no longer available at B&H.

Did you want one? Get in line for one? Think Pentax/Ricoh should offer a larger quantity in silver?

Get it from Henry's in Canada. Same price, 2 years warranty, they list it as available for preorder.

I talked to a guy at henry's who said Canada is only getting 50 kits total, and henry's has 25 of them. No idea if this is just smoke to get me to pre-order, since I haven't checked with my contacts at Ricoh Imaging Canada yet (still seems weird to type that)...

This is good news, if they move the 2000 silver ones in pre-sale alone, then their launch sales should be good and Ricoh/Pentax will be happy and have lots of profits and keep making great cameras

On the other hand I do hope you find one

Duh!! Why didn't I think of ordering direct from Pentax...guess because I have only ever ordered from B&H and Adorama. Just placed pre-order for the K-3 Silver! with a silver lens and that brown leather strap...one seriously SEXY camera!! But now I also need to save up for a new silver HD lens I think! Although I like the look of the black lenses on the silver body more than the silver lenses on the black body.

Managed to order the silver kit here in the UK yesterday but the retailer had booked 10 of his allocated 20 kits by 11 a.m.! I think this bodes well for the camera overall.

I spoke with B&H about this and they said they were just being careful not to take too many pre-orders. They said that once the shipment arrives they will probably have plenty of silver K-3's in stock. But they weren't 100% sure on that.

I like too that they issued the silver up front and not a year later. Creates some buzz. and I think I will have more people asking what I am shooting with when carrying around the silver vs black aka free advertising for the brand.

I also snoozed and should have ordered it on the 8th or yesterday. Pentax's store doesn't take Paypal for preorders (CC has a $1k limit and PP can draw directly from the bank). So I just ordered one from Henry's

While I definitely would have preferred to get one from a US retailer--both for convenience and not "stealing" a kit from other Canadians--it's really great to see it "sold out" as a preorder.
