Though I tend to think of myself as a northerner, on this side of the atlantic we "savages" take a fish bury it in the gourd, and plant beans, corn and squash (the three sisters) on it. My guess is we probably get both more and better tasting food that way. But hey, what do I know?

You guys just leave out step 3, for some reason I'll never understand.

1. Catch fish.
2. Bury in ground.
3 Plant vegetables on top of fish.
4. Harvest and eat.

Maybe you ran out of seed one year or something?
Hey, we get away with 25% less work. How's that so hard to understand?

Bizarre Foods Alaska:

After digging up fermented salmon heads known as “Stink Heads” buried underground:
Man: “I make this for my parents all the time.”
Zimmern: “You’re a good son.”

After tasting fermented salmon heads:
“I’m never eating that again as long as I live. That’s really really harsh. Amonia, rotted flesh, spoiled onions. All these flavors come to mind. You really like this?!!”

Bizarre?! What harm does a bit of seasoning, I ask!

I mean, I've heard that some people over yonder actually eat this stuff in the belief that it's food!

How's that for bizarre??

That really is bizarre. I much prefer the Quarter Pounder, or Burger King's Big King to the Big Mac.

Now that I think about it... The paper container might not be too bad. If you're really hungry. Just bury it with some fish for six months first

In much the same way that you "prefer" thumb screws to electrocution of your testies?

No, more like the way I prefer beer, or single malt to blended.

Stop it, you're bringing back horrible memories from my childhood. Some of my childhood buddies, used to hold each other down and one would press his thumb down on another testicals. They called it "nut crunching" or something like that. When they did it to me I decided I to hang out in other social groups in the future. A decision that they seemed incapable of comprehending. "What? you won't hang out with us because we crushed one of your nuts? Really? " ..."Really!".
