Hey Racer-X,

Just in case you miss the old days on the road. The guy making the video says two dead, but the news report says no fatalities. A few colorful words in the video. As someone who drives a lot as part of my job, this has always been my biggest fear. I drive a car and have had a few close calls that could have easily turned into this. Plenty of crazy people out there.

22 injured in 3 major Wyoming pileups

Wyoming I 80 East and Westbound Multi Car Crash - YouTube
That part I don't miss one bit!

Notice that there doesn't appear to be any flatbed rigs in that wreck. Flatbed drivers generally have more seat time than Doorswingers, and know when to park it.

I pulled flatbeds, stepdecks, double drops, and stretch trailers mostly.

It paid much better than the Doorswinger work.

Way better.

So I could afford to be a wuss and sit on the back row at the truck stop, curtain pulled, APU keeping me cozy and warm, eating popcorn, having one or two "adult" malted refreshments, watching a movie on the 24" flatscreen.

It was kinda like "camping" these days, you know, in one of these?

Well, it wasn't as roomy, and didn't have a toilet or running water, but I had a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, electric grill, and could make hot water.

In the Volvo trucks the lower bunk made into a table.

I lived like a King on the Big Road.

This is my first truck.

Well they must have done something right.

You have a Pentax camera.

me being me, I did some research. on teh interwebs.
2 things are obvious:
1) apparently I'm a psychopath with myriads of deviations from The Norm, a candidate for institution, basically;
2) normal people are dull and boring. unless they hear voices; then they're cool

I wouldn't worry too much about deviating from Norm

The 'norm', as in 'the average person', is half male, half female, 36.8 years old, has a third of a bachelor's degree, owns about 8/10th of a car ... (US statistics)

That's the whole point of the field of differential psychology - everyone is different

But if you actually were "the norm", that wouldn't be normal.

Well. I'm back. There's no bacon there ... and everything was under-cooked to the point of almost being RAW.

Oops, sorry. Photo speak

But at least you never needed to take out what you put in the toilet.

Oh well, that incident on the I80 was good for the economy, look at all the GDP boosting repairs, and mostly whole replacements, that all those drivers needed to get at the local truck showroom so that they could get those loads delivered, at all.

Well I guess I am far from the 'norm'.

I own a 1972 Chevrolet Camaro (3rd owner).

A 2005 Subaru Legacy wagon.

2001 Dodge Ram 3500.

Although I do not have one at the moment, I have owned more motorcycles than I can recall, but I would run out of fingers and toes if I had to count them all.

There is a 1971 Dastun 240Z race car in my shop that I have owned since 1989. The car has road racing history in SCCA and ICSCC going back to 1979.

A 32 foot enclosed trailer for hauling the race car to the race meets.

Can't leave out the 1972 Datsun 240Z (3rd owner). Oh, and at last count 11 other Datsun 240Z, 260Z, 280Z and 280ZX complete cars out behind the shop. Some I had used as a beater to get around in, others were cars that I hauled away for people to use as a source of spare parts for the race car and the 1972.

I have a 1976 Eliminator Jet boat, 460 Ford engine, Berkley water jet drive unit. A worn out ski boat that can get well North of 70mph on a lake and if I rebuilt the water pump and engine it should get into the triple digits for speed.

A 1948 Ford 8N tractor. Numerous implements, rake, back blade, 6 foot finish mower, disc harrow, Korean ware era jeep wagon, 3 point mount Dearborn sickle bar mower, belly mount Dearborn sickle bar mower.

And a 1948 Adams motor grader.

A Kubota GR2120 diesel riding mower.

Mrs. Racer has a 2012 Toyota Corolla S.

A 18' camping trailer.

Nope.

We're far from the 'norm'. Although I probably have 8/10ths of a Datsun Z car out back!
