Very nice examples. Some German and Austrian villages have quite curious names too, which I will not mention here for fear of breaching forum rules Anyone interested can have a look at location 48.065404, 12.858804 and 47.911831, 12.820379. Suffices to say that they don't mean the same in German

As much as I now dislike living in NY it is the center of the world. Within a day's drive is Utica, Attica, Syracuse, Cuba. Waterloo, Ithaca, Lyons, Amherst, Newark, Warsaw, Medina, Elba, Interlaken, Rome, Amsterdam, Leicester, Rochester, Rotterdam, Troy, Glasco (the Scots misspelled it) and so many other world renowned cities.

I can't believe that so many places in the world are named after places in New York Sate

No time for K3, too busy cooking pork ribs.
7 1/2 hours of torture...
I'll see your ribs, and raise you a butt, a brisket, baked beans, and pepper poppers.
All from this weekend.

Cheers!

A lot of our non-English, non-Scottish, names are from the locality's Aboriginal name (or at least as close as the poms could get to pronouncing it!)
...which usually means you have to make use of more than a bit of imagination to make out any semblance at all.

My ex-mother in law was a rug hooker. She was going down to a convention in the states and at the border was asked where she was going. "To a hooking convention." The guy rolled his eyes and waived her through.

There's a topic?

I thought that was against thread rules.

I wonder though.. has CONDOM ever been a topic before today?

No, because there as been an unspoken thought that certain critters on this thread should not be allowed to breed. Otis comes to mind.
