Two days ago I went into a newsagent to get a paper. When I went in it was summer; when I came out it was winter.

In Finland, we call it summer.
I've heard that's the nicest day of the year in Finland?

Ouch. Our "summer" has been a bit on the cold side, but I didn't know it was quite this much snow in the mountains still. Yes, they've had another 3-4 meters the last few days, but...

This is the top of one of the ski lift masts.
Yikes!
No look, I can;t be the only one driving V8's trying to get us more "global warming". Please help. It's expensive enough driving to school three times to make up for the kids doing "walking schoolbus".

33C today, uh ... Why can't the whole of summer just stay in the 20 - 25C range?

You forgot the minus sign. And 33 is bad. Booze is frozen. You need to distill it to work in that weather.
In Finland we don't have positive temperatures in celcius scale. Only -25C and 25 freezing.

Ah, so you're acclimatising the 55-300 to Namibian temperatures? Your K-... umm, camera will handle it without, err, breaking a sweat

It has to heat the water up enough so we can swim. And we need a couple really hot sunny days here to kill the back flies and mosquitoes. If it stays like this ( 15 to 24 C ) the bugs are going to be bad forever.

You just have to swim a bit more vigorously so the heat generated by your activity keeps the cold away . . . . . . .

I tried to acclimatise myself just now and ran around the lake - I didn't take my K-should-not-be-named, but personally I certainly did break a sweat. Now I'm sitting in the basement trying to cool down I need a tele-porter to fast-travel to Scotland for five minutes, then fast-return to here. Or better, fast-travel to Svalbard.

Here 33C in summer is a reasonable day. It does get cooler sometimes. The days over 40 are a problem, you get burned almost immediately after the sun gets onto you.

My first high school history teacher told us that in the 7-8th centuries the Angles and the Saxons went to sunny England. We all laughed because all the English were come from there to get our sunniness here.

If it has WR the sweat cannot get out so it sweats inside. Hmm?

Yep, I remember summer in the ACT. After a week of constant > 40C daytime highs I crossed the street just to discover that the tarmac started sticking to my shoes ...
