Calculus? Wasn't he the Emperor of Rome for 3 or 4 years in the first century?

We use it to denote any arbitrary function, so it pretty much means whatever you want it to.

That is the f as in f(x). But the squiggly thing in calculus is the old calligraphy of S, meaning to sum up all the space under f(x).

I read a facsimile of a 1972 book once and all the S's were just like the squiggly thing.

No, that would probably be Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, otherwise known as Caligula, or any of his equally insane relatives from about the same period...

Augustus
Tiberius
Caligula
Claudius
Nero

One of them anyway....

Ouch! I'd not consider it fair to call either Augustus or Claudius "insane". Even the much malligned Caligula was a pretty good emperor. Nero, well - he deserves the bad rap I think.

Back to 'norm'.
I think it very unfair to say Norm is average.
I really like some of his sunsets: they are far above average, in my opinion.

Now, if we could just get Norm out of bed earlier, we might get to see some sunrises too!
And I am sure some of them would be above average.

No matter. Norm's puns are just the worst. And a man can be judged only by his puns.

Sorry, Norm, but you are doooomed

No, no. Caligula is that really fancy script type of hand writing with the different pen tips. Don't you people know anything?
Sheesh!

Ya one of my ex's was a Caligula artist. She did all the certificates for, well lots of places. as well as Greeting Cards, wedding invitations etc. computers killed her business. If anyone needs any Caligula done I'll give you her address. Don't tell her I sent you, she won't answer your inquiries.

Just goes to show, you can find an example of just about anything on the internet... even things that aren't things.

Yeah, I'm sure Caligula and Nero had horrible puns, too. Why should that let you off the hook?
