They did? When??

Snoopy has been keeping his Camel operational for many years now. He deserves an award or something.

A Camel that's still flying is impressive, but not as impressive as a 65 year old dog that can fly a plane.

I traveled to San Antonio and back recently via a commercial airline. They offered internet access and movie streaming in flight.

I watched the free app they offered that showed our speed, altitude, direction, etc. Here is some of that data:

Ground speed: 605 mph/974 kph

Altitude: 37,024 Ft/11,285 meters

Outside wind direction: WNW

Outside wind speed: 92 mph/148 mph

Looks like it was really windy!

And the movie I was streaming didn't miss a frame.
Winds like that up there are normal. Gets bouncy when you go through a change of direction at that height, or if you go with an airline that flies standard route and gets Dutch Roll wind directions. So airlines seems to and others not although no-one I know in the industry has been willing to tell me if this is an airline policy thing. I think it is given the routes many airlines take. BTW: 707 had dutch roll correction fitted, but could be switched to manual, and several early crashes were the result of pilots under training for manual correction after deliberately switching off the corrector, so they would know how to correct if it failed. Irony: the corrector was never shown to have failed in normal service. Dutch roll is a phenomenon tht arises from swept back wing designs, as opposed to the classic cross of old propeller planes.

Hey, the Sopwith Camel was a cool plane.

And find one these days for ten grand.

They quit making them you know.
They were good in their time. There is one in Canberra, in the same hall as G-For-George, a dambuster Lancaster. It is a treasure for the nation and should stay that way.

One of the greatest Rugby players of all time, Jonah Lomu passed away today. He was only 40, but the donated kidney had been rejected, and that, as they say, is the way the cookie crumbles. Humble man, good with kids, sadly missed.

+1. He never got to play in a winning Cup side, but his speed for size was incredible.

Not sure about that. A flying camel would impress me.

Ever seen a goat using the toilet? I have, no more a couple of weeks ago.

Not that I have anything against goats, but I chose another booth.

She's even training her kid. Not too successfully, but still.

I know, I know, it was rude of me to intrude on them, but they could have locked the bloody door!

Quite simple. It was about 40C/100+F outside, and bone dry and dusty.

They drank the water

I heard this morning. It was quite a shock because he has been so active in recent times that I had the impression he was going well. It is always sad to hear of the passing of any person.

Pink Floyd once had a flying pig, and it got away. I suppose that means that they no longer had a flying pig.
