Yep, this is definitely the place for little or no sense...
My posting frequency is related to the regulation of my medications. When lucid, I have other things to do.

Now I have that song stuck in my head...so much for lucidity.

[EDIT]: Just got a call - going to a party after all.

Quick trip to the store for stuff to make Pimento Cheese Sandwiches, so I'm getting really close to validating the entire thread!! Yikes!!

P.S. - on the way back from the store came upon a dozen Police cars in a strip mall and a guy on the ground.

Drove another half mile and the entire boulevard was blocked by Police cars, Fire Engines and Ambulances. We were routed through the parking lot of a Kwik-E-Mart and back onto the boulevard. As I eased my way through a gawker said, "I didn't even know she was in a car before she got shot."

Jeebus. A Road Rage / Drive-by right in my neighborhood. What's the world coming to?

This WILL NOT turn to politics.
From Wikipedia: "Politics (from Greek: πολιτικός politikos, definition "of, for, or relating to citizens") is the practice and theory of influencing other people. Politics involves the making of a common decision for a group of people, that is, a uniform decision applying in the same way to all members of the group. It also involves the use of power by one person to affect the behavior of another person. More narrowly, it refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance — organized control over a human community, particularly a state. Furthermore, politics is the study or practice of the distribution of power and resources within a given community (a usually hierarchically organized population) as well as the interrelationship(s) between communities."

So, saying we won't turn to politics in itself "involves the use of power by one person to affect the behaviour of another person" and is therefore, by definition "politics". Hmm.

Don't you just love internal contradictions and ethical dilemmas? Not to mention exercises in pedantry.

Pass the HP sauce, please.

Yeah, don't try telling the great Mod whether something is political or not. I did that once ...

On a different note, I just came back from seven hours of having 50 mph wind accelerate snow and sleet right into my face. You can wear whatever you want - Goretex lined boots, a hard shell, waterproof trousers, it doesn't help. Every single square inch of your body ends up wet, especially when the 'waterproof' trousers from the club's gear store aren't actually terribly waterproof ...

Oh the beauty of mountaineering in Scottish winter ...

Correction: Rule number one is the only one. Remember, there can be only one.
