I remember my mom making breakfast.
Biscuits in the oven, skillet of bacon, eggs fried in the bacon fat, tops of the eggs cooked by flipping hot grease over them,
And then, oh my, her milk gravy...........
Most of all I miss her love and hugs.
Yes, It is not all that common to still have your Mom at my age...and she is in very good health and her mind is as sharp as it ever was. We had a good visit with her yesterday and left feeling like we need to go see her a lot more often...though I call almost every day.
It is also unusual to have a Mom almost 90 years of age that is in no way feeble, in need of assistance, or dependent on others to make her decisions and chart her days. She is most definitely strong willed and the matriarch of the family....always has been. My Dad was a Bird Colonel, a large and powerful man, accomplished and well educated....but no one doubted the leader of the pack was my Mom. She is Irish and proud of it......and has instilled that same self confidence in all of us...along with a healthy dose of defiance.
Yesterday we briefly hit on politics...and found we were in disagreement this year. She turned to Mrs Rupert and said..."I did the best I could at raising him, but he was always just like me, sometimes a little short in some areas........looks like this is one of those times." And that was the end of the politics. She cut me down, but in a way that left room for my views.

You can't ever replace those can you. My Mom has always been there for me, right or wrong, sick or well, my Mom has never abandoned me....threatened a good many times to oust me from the family...but never once failed to be the first at my side in time of need.
Those of you that do still have your Mom, stay close, say thanks for her and cherish her with your love. Let her know you are who you are because she is who she is.
We stopped at Aldis on the way and I got her a dozen of these.....wonderful little boxes of delicious quick snacks...she loves Tuna/Chicken salad, and these are delicious! I also got her a big bouquet of lavender shades of Spring flowers....her favorite colors. Let you Mom know you think of her!
Six crackers, a can of delicious chicken/tuna salad...and a tiny spoon! All in a neat box...for $1.!!!!
My new breakfast food!
It was a good day....perfect weather, Mrs Rupert, and my Mom...Mom's grilled Velveeta with bacon....what could be better!
Regards!
