It's easy to forget that the United States are, in many ways still, 50 different countries. Texas is much bigger than many countries. Some examples: France, England, New Zealand, Germany.
One time a Scottish farmer was touring the U.S.
While in Texas a rancher was proudly showing him his ranch and bragging about how big it was. "Ah kin drive in a straight line all day and not get tuh the uthuh side uh mah ranch."
The Scotsman said "Aye, I had a car like that meself once."

I've taken an interest in Texas for quite some time due to my reading around the JFK Assasination.
I've read about all there is to read about the JFK assassination and been to Dealey Plaza many times before and after. If I have any conclusion, it is that it is like one of those drawings where you see one thing one time and another the next. In the end you can't decide which is which.

Being local, I heard a lot of conflicting stories at and after the event. Most were just people spouting off but one in particular caught my attention and still holds it. It was a first hand experience......if you are interested I'll PM you.

Regards!

Only those that have never spoken to a Texan for more than ten minutes.

Peameal bacon.
"Peameal Peameal is another type of Canadian bacon also cut from the center back of pork. Peameal differs from regular Canadian bacon in that it is brined (or pickled) rather than smoked. Traditionally, peameal was coated in ground yellow peas although today yellow cornmeal is used instead."

If anyone served that here on a BLT they wouldn't survive long enough to regret it.

Please do PM me. I can fill a bookcase on the JFK Assination. I own two copies of the Warren Commission Report. And, no - They're not identical.

Must only be a half moon tonight.

Even the parking lot can be entertaining.

Mad Max has a cousin down Galveston way.

Chester Cheeto must be inside stocking up.

One more. This car looks like those projects we all did in kindergarten where we glued macaroni to construction paper.

OK, naptime!

But we don't say the pledge of allegiance to Washington, Oregon, South Dakota or Minnesota.

We say the pledge of allegiance to the Untied States of America.

Our Canadian cousins are similar with their national anthem, Oh Canada.

If I remember my social studies classes correctly, all nations are a collection of states, provinces or cantons.

But the total population is less than how much the population of Sweetwater, Texas swells for the annual rattlesnake roundup.

Even our smallest state, Rhode Island has three times more people.
