Well, in my honest opinion there's a bit too much photo talk happenin' here ... so I will change the subject and wish all a very happy holiday season!

This is just plain srtrange.
Christmas day, here on the Northern plains.
It's raining, hard, and thundering.
Every raindrop that falls, is one (otherwise) snowflake that I don't have to shovel.

I know. I don't mind the snow falling pre-shovelled (apart from the fact that it makes it even darker), but it's plain wrong.

The Ramonas - Santa's got a GTO
Every time someone mentions a GTO, I can't help but think of my all-time-second-favourite movie (and my favourite road movie), "Two Lane Blacktop"

... and not forgetting Warren Oates as "GTO":

"I bought her in Bakersfield, California.
I was testing jets at the time.
It got so I wasn't getting enough action
on the ground. You know what I mean.
I mean, you just can't stay
with the same high forever.
So, when the 455 came out with
a Mark IV ram air and a beefed blower in...
a Carter high-riser setup,
I was on line.
390 horsepower.
500 foot pounds of torque...
whatever that is."

Of the four main characters in that movie only one is still alive, James Taylor (Driver).

Laurie Bird (The Girl) committed suicide in 1979.

Warren Oats (GTO) died from heart attack in 1982.

Dennis Wilson (Mechanic) drowned after an extended period of heavy drinking, drug use and violence in 1983.

The GTO character rubbed me wrong. Reminded me of all the guys I've ever known who pretended to know something and really knew nothing.

Still, he played his role well, not his fault he was cast as a loser.

Quite. And what a shame. Huge talent displayed by all of them in that film. Warren Oates, of course, had the acting experience, but Laurie Bird and Dennis Wilson were very inexperienced. Slightly awkward performances, but they gave such a realistic feel to the parts.

I've seen James Taylor in concert three times in the last 10 or 12 years... He's a lot less shy than he was back when 2LBT was filmed... but still recognisably JT

The '55 Chevy still exists, though... actually, I think there were at least a couple... but one of them was bought by a private collector and restored some time after it was used in American Graffiti. I think it's been through a few restorations since...

Never seen it and never even heard of it....but from the posts here it sounds like I don't want to miss even if I am years late. I will find it and give it a view! Let you know what I think when I do...not that I am much of a movie critic. My all time favorite is the Good Bad and Ugly, I think I have seen it over 50 times....when I slip in the disc Mrs Rupert leaves to go shopping....which makes it even more of a favorite!

Otis wanted to do a Christmas Day pose for you guys....just so you would know he is still handsome as ever! ....and of course, he is!

It was a wonderful day here...visited my Mom and we got back home safe before dark...that seems important to old people like me.

Best Regards!

Mrs Rupert complains a lot about her lower back and wants a back rub most every night. I dread giving them, and look for ways to get out of it.....like going to bed way early and pretending to be fast asleep to avoid having to rub her back. I came across one of these and bought it for her for Christmas.....among other things. Gave it to her early last week to see if it could help me avoid those damn back rubs......it has worked wonders for her and she uses it often. It has given her total relief....I tried it myself and it does work wonders. These used to be very expensive 10-15 years ago but now are so cheap they are worth a try for anyone with nagging pain.

Just wanted to pass this along, it might help someone else. It sure has helped me avoid those back rubs!

Happy to stand in for you Jim. Mutual massage is a favorite activity for me. Always leads to something good.

. . . . . . . .

I'd be delighted if Mrs. Racer asked for a backrub.

Ditto for me.
In 1971 my first child was 1 year old, so maybe other things took precedence.
Also didn't know Taylor ever acted. I'll look for it too.

In 1967 I wanted a GTO so bad I could taste it, but I was 20 and my insurance guy scared me away from one, so I looked at the newly minted Firebird.
You could get the same 400 ci engine in them, so I asked my insurance guy about that model.
He said "Oh, that's a compact car, so no major premium jump."
I spotted a new, red 350 ci HO convertible on a lot, traded in my '63 Impala, and took her home for a budget busting $3K or thereabouts.

Not sure if my pic will show, taken with a cell phone and I have problems getting them to show for others.
