If any of you have iPhones with Siri, ask her what does the fox say.

That "z" brought back an odd thought ... do they still sell "Cheez Whiz" in the States? I tried to explain this "food" concept once to my French in-laws and they just looked at me in true horror ... sometimes it's really hard being an American in France.

Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Sunny and about 60. Waiting out the oversize load restriction, for some reason the Volunteer State doesn't allow oversize load movements on the Sabbath.

Bible Belt you know.

Yes they do. And Velveeta too. Pasteurized process cheese "food". That garbage is made from the leftover stuff that is scraped from the vats when they finish making real cheese. They take all the "leavins" and mix 'em all together, add a bunch of stuff I can't pronounce and really don't want to put in my body, cook it up and then package it for sale.

So y'all cain't get Cheeze Whiz in France?

Pity.

Actually, they take partially hydrogenated soybean oil, whey solids, dried cheese solids, carotene (the orange color, and yes, it is carrot-based) and some food additives for shelf-life, stability and neutrality - then they hot-pour package it in an aseptic process and let it cool to shape in the corrugated cardboard liner box.

Velveeta is actually First-Grade ingredients. The off-brand stuff is what you have to watch out for.

For a melting base it is the preferred choice - Nachos, fondue, cheddar-melts. Add your flavorings and you're good to go. The secret is to use it where it is best used - don't slice it cold and put it on a sandwich.

For sure. Certainly not good on a sammich. And you're right, it can "perform" better on things like you mention, but I prefer Tillamook cheddar on my nachos. Even if it doesn't melt and run all over like the pasteurized process stuff.

And I wouldn't serve it on crackers either.

Nope ... never even saw it, not even in the American specialty foods stores in Paris ... but, you could buy Strawberry Frosted Pop Tarts in a store that was in the third "arrondissement" ... but wait, I just "googled" the store's old name and found this ...

ÉPICERIE AMÉRICAINE en Ligne: Acheter Produits Américains - Import USA ... OMG !!! And to quote Marlon Brando, "The horror, the horror ... "

- - - - - - - - - - -

Plus, I have sinned as well ... well, rather my French wife bought this garbage for our "new" hamburger night dinner theme ...
