Yesterday I told you all I would visit the dentist today to extract a tooth.

Well, I visited the dentist, who attempted to extract the tooth. But there were complications, so I still have the tooth, a course of antibiotics, and a sore face. And an appointment for next week to extract the tooth after the antibiotics have done their work, which is to make the anaesthetic effective.

After all that I visited the office, with a sore face.

And Racer, not only can you go on a tour of the big shed, you can get the owners to pay you to go on a tour. Guess you need to finish the repairs on your feet first.

Not a problem! Give me a decent notebook with a big screen and I could easily sit for 16 hours....heck, I do it at home all the time!
So, are you coming for a visit?

Had that happen once.....the Doc/Dentist wanted to send me to Dallas (90 miles away!) to one of his specialist friends because halfway through the procedure he couldn't get the tooth out. No way! You bring your friend here, or get it out, or deal with my lawyer friend who doesn't take on jobs he can't handle.
It took him two more hours but he got 'er out...in pieces. Still, it beat the alternatives.

My personal opinion of dentists is not too good....they started out as barbers in barber shops long ago and nowadays they are not much advanced. Some do all kinds of other services...liposuction, cosmetic repairs, hypnosis, etc. They want to X-ray you every visit, need it or not, and recommend all kinds of expensive treatments after trying to scare the daylight out of you. No...I am not a fan and not a believer.
Even my current dentist, a pretty straight up guy, hounded me constantly for X-rays I didn't want or need. I'm 72 and had one (pseudo) cavity when I was 7...which is the reason the tooth was bad that was pulled....the filling finally cracked around itself.
I finally had my prime MD write me a note..... like a damn school kid has to get....advising my dentist that X-rays would require a written approval form his office.
Funny too.....those with no dental insurance seldom get or need an X-ray...isn't that strange?

End of rant.....
Regards!

You know...some days I feel up to it...and some days (most) I don't. I've been in here all day trying to get myself to the Feed Store...animal feed is running low. I'm running out of time and still, here I sit.....

Regards!

Had to do a fast EDIT......I had typed "...been in her all day....." It's good to proof read before you post!

Gee, I must have raced through the 32,800 posts too quickly, and missed similar comments.
Well, if you had done it properly the first time you wouldn't have had to do it again.

(But I agree - it really is great!)

At least in my case:
1. The other dentist was a more senior dentist working in the same practice. Basically his boss. And it was a five minute wait for him to come from where he was.
2. The NHS, where the funding is largely from the government, has built in constraints on causing suffering through over-servicing.

That reminds me of a former colleague who got in a taxi to go a short way and felt the driver was going to give him a grand tour to get more money. So he said, "I am in a hurry, tell me how much you want, and take me straight there."

I get to visit a dental surgeon on Thursday to get a molar pulled. It has a crown and the tooth cracked a month or so ago. After that an implant. If it was one of the end ones I would not bothered with the implant. Sort of a waste of money to get a root canal and a crown done on it.

I need to get a couple of Implants I'm just waiting for a lottery win, using a plate for now.
My brother in law spent a winter in India (with my sister) and had all his teeth replaced wi implants for what it was going to cost for 4 of them here. Eventually he would havneed all of them so he just said what the hell lets do it once. And they got 4 months in the winter on the warm beaches near Goa
I may wait until I retire and do the same if it stays that cheap the work was good

Implants seem to be good, if done properly. That would be my choice......My teeth aren't the most attractive....not bad but not like my two sisters with perfect teeth. They both had braces and I refused them when I was a kid. "Don't need them, by the time I'm 21 most of my teeth will have been knocked out, so what's the point?" Well, they never were, though in some fights they got loosened up pretty good....one did get a decent chip. Third grade....it sat right in front as a reminder that in a fist fight there are no rules...go for the kill or don't get in the fight. I lived by that ever after the chipped tooth....and it paid off too! Dirty fighting was as fair as anything in my book.

Dentists.....I have a good dentist story of a dentist gone wrong......and paying the price. Maybe later?, I finally got the animal feed and the package from Otis mailed off to WPRESTO. Just in time, it was a day of procrastination.

Regards!

Went to my dentist couple weeks ago to have an old filling redone.
Got the "statement of benefits" from my insurance company yesterday. It said that "You owe the service provider $320.00"... That would buy a lot Bacon.

At least the history on mine saved me the cost and trauma of RCT, crown and then removal. Get to the conclusion executive summary like.

Used to get that kind of thing in Australia. Made me afraid of obtaining of services. In England even the full price of private dentist seems competitive with the after insurance price in Australia.

That might not be quite how they make bacon butter.

Is there such a thing as swine cheese? I never heard of that before, either.
