So a front pannier rack might be better?
For just a couple of books and a lunch it wouldn't matter much, but if you're going to carry more than 10 or 15 lbs a front rack would be better.

That's my lunch there...

Finished my first ride this year - just a leisurely 15k, but my legs are blooming painful! Guess not enough rest after nationals?
Better eat some bacon to refuel! (see... this post is totally on topic...)

Last race of the season for us last night. Short one. 22.5km at an average of 33.9km/h. 39min55sec. I was 25th out of 41. I'm getting better! Used to be last LOL.

Then had a lovely dinner of venison steak, sausage, potatoes, salad and washed down with a Guiness!

I have done enough dining for today. Must wait till tomorrow to dine some more. Dinner tonight I had a Chinese variant of bacon. See, the idea of bacon has invaded the world.

Well at (my first) Nationals this year (2.2k skate relay, 5k skate dist., 7.5k classic dist., 1.1k classic sprint, 10k skate dist.), that's 5 races in a week... I was steadily placing 60th-70th out of 120ish. Not that bad...

Thanks.

The Senior Men did a 50k skate... with the fastest time around 1:56... that's over 25k an hour, also it's a very hard course and in spring conditions (6in of slush, 10°C, etc.)

Hi Tim
The younger ones of the older ones are still here so still the same as before so no change.
Hope you can come home soon regardless.
Yes all the cars will be imported ,a shame really. The Australian Divisions mostly made a profit but not enough to help head office .
So maybe they should have closed the main office instead and left us alone!
Whishful thinking I know!

So I see the weather is pretty severe down that way.

I was gonna suggest a backpack.

Oh well.

When I drove a truck I had a bicycle to get exercise when I was waiting for a reload 3,000 miles from home. I'd ride to the store and get groceries, usually stopping on the way at a bar that served meals and have a beer and a steak. I always used a backpack to carry my groceries back to the truck.

My back never complained.

If you trust the US Army's research.

I always thought they could place endless rows of solar panels in the Outback. It is sunny there all the time, rarely rains, and is something like 1,000 degrees. Oh, and they could also use giant mirrors to focus the sun to heat water for steam.

Lots of energy potential there.

My previous boss did that in Australia. Pretty good in all distances until a fatigue failure of his skate frame, holds the wheels on. He got a spare knee fitted and is now back in the action but less successful.
