That phylosophy has largely been abandoned and, in the case of the larger retailers, it's actually been reversed.
Well, you can still get a 16 oz soda in a 10 oz bottle at the same price. Modern technology is great at condensation!

Got an email from the FBI that said they scanned an incoming box with my name on it, and it contains 4.1 million dollars!
The FBI must have a heck of a scanner.
Good Lordy! I get those all the time. Don't open the box if they send it.Those E-mails are from Otis and what you get is a damn box full of those blind orphan squirrels. How do you think I ended up with them, and the bill to feed and house them?

Regards!

There used to be a phylosophy in retail that said giving the customers a little more than they were paying for was a good thing to do to foster loyalty.
Hence the name Overwaitea, as Robert Kidd named it:
One of his most famous strategies was his practice of adding an extra two ounces into each pound of his best Indian and Ceylon blended teas. Customers soon heard about the 18-ounce pound of tea, and his shop became known as the "Overweight-tea store." Later he condensed this to "Overwaitea," which became the company's name.

When I was young Brymay matches were labelled 'approximately 50' per box. Then new laws about fraudulent trading were introduced which would penalise them if any box had less than 50. Their solution was to aim to pack 53. Legally they could not defend a claim if the number in a box was less than 50 even if they could show the average number was actually 50 or more.

Who said the law is an ass? NB: that word references a type of animal despite what some watching this thread over the shoulders of some users may think.

You have no idea how hard it is to climb 50 flights of steps in this building. Makes me want bacon to make up what I've burned off so far.
It takes 10,000 steps to burn off one slice of bacon.

Take a few more flights.

My spam filter works well and rarely has anything in it, could't resist reading this one before deleting.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Some guys have all the luck.

Somebody in Nairobi is holding $300,000 for me, but I can't afford the two thousand dollar fee for them to release it.
Can I borrow that from you once you collect your millions?

Years ago a guy near me had a pickup for sale on Craig's List. He got the come on from some dude in Africa somewhere that wanted the pickup shipped to him, and he would send a check for an amount far in excess of the asking price. He accepted the deal, and when the check arrived he took it to the bank and asked for it to be authenticated.

The bank authenticated the check.

He asked them to cash it.

They did, and gave him the cash.

He placed the cash in a safe place, shipped the pickup and waited.

A short time later the bank and the police contacted him. Seems the check wasn't as authentic as the bank said it was.

The dude got a lawyer and then the bank and police had to leave him be, because the bank assured him the check was good.

There probably ended up being a rather sad bank clerk out of that.

Heck, I found out I'm part Nigerian prince and part Thai royalty and that I have millions from each side. I wonder how that came about because me Ancestry DNA test shows 97% European and 3% Asian (scratching my head on that one) DNA. Still, that's pretty sweet, but I'm not giving my bank info out.

Another fine Aldi dinner.....Salmon patties, one of my favorites! I like them best cold on a sandwich with a slice of Velveeta and liberal mayo.

My Aldi lunch yesterday, Kobe style Wagyu sliders, and chips.
The Wagyu ground beef is from Australia.
