I'm as excited as Racer is of a first race of the season, or Bert of his first bagpipe recital, or of Otis spotting a fresh batch of sap.
May the Otis Force be with you once again!

Damn that Otis can fly! No fear, no hesitation...that's Otis!

Regards & Best of luck,Otis is a big Cardinals fan....like we didn't know that?

Go Mariners.

It is always racing season somewhere. As championships are beginning in the Northern Hemisphere, they are coming to a close in the Southern.

So I'm always excited.

Baseball? Meh.

I found out a bit more about the gaol/jail thing. It's from French, of course. Well, from Latin - caveola, meaning small cave - but English got it from French. Of course. And it came along in two forms; from Parisian French and from Northern French. The first took the form of jaiole or jaile, the second
gayol or gayhole. That last one probably didn't look quite so striking in the middle ages, but I imagine some people would find going there more intimidating than going to jail.

Baseball is as sacred as Mom or apple pie....or auto racing! You need to reaffirm your love of bacon or you may be in for the wrath of Otis!

There are sports that I enjoy watching but none of them involve a team and a ball.
Baseball is slightly more entertaining than watching paint dry; football is substantially less captivating than paint drying or grass growing, and all others fall somewhere in between.
Okay, I have been known to watch beach volleyball on occasion.

Baseball is almost like cricket I find. A good day out. But then, I like watching cycling races so yeah - maybe my ideas of fun are strange!

My respect for our M0d was vast already before this collection of deep wisdom.

And yeah, I can understand why beach volleyball can be entertaining.

When did the conversation turn to basketball?

Basketball has no comparison to baseball.

Baseball has a much smaller ball, which requires no air to give it shape, and it is many times harder than a basketball. Speeds in excess of 90 miles an hour (144.8 kph) have been measured during a Major League pitch. Try throwing a basketball that fast.

Baseball has a bat, with which to hit the ball, preferably over the back fence. Bats are made from fine woods, ash, bamboo, maple or hickory. Basketball has a maple floor.

Baseball has cleats. Basketball has 'sneakers'. Cleats are way cooler than sneakers. Try walking across a basketball court with cleats on.

Baseball is an American pastime. Like apple pie and Chevrolet.

Eh?

Eh?
Some bowlers in cricket bowl at 100mph, and they are allowed to bowl in the general direction of the batsman, who if not good enough to hit the ball, or to dodge it, gets hit, and the rules leave it at that - the batsman hurts, and must face the next ball, unlike baseball where the batter gets a free quarter run and does not face the next ball.
