I don't know, sounds like extortion to me.
You mean a criminal case might be made? I'd hate to see Bert in jail...but confiscation of his bagpipe would be OK with me!

A donation to block out my squirrels would be OK too....one of Mrs Rupert's deck plants had a single bloom and she was so proud of it yesterday on Mothers Day. A damn squirrel just ripped it off and tried to eat it.

Regards!

If you eat the squirrels they can't eat the plants. Just sayin'!

I have to say potato is my favorite

though we've made them with wheat flour and corn meal ( tried them with masa (milled hominy) but then they insisted on being some sort of Mexican gnocchi...very confusing, culturally)

mixed in spinach, red pepper flakes, etc. for some thing a bit different

I enjoy that something so easy to make can be so toothsome
I quite like the pumpkin gnocchi we make at home.

I doubt Heisenberg would agree. He would simply claim that the squirrel's speed cannot be determined at the same time as its exact location - that doesn't mean the squirrel can be in two locations at the same time

It took a while but then it dawned on me that all that was something to do with the Fourier Transform, which is also the secret as t why electrical engineers are not like all the other engineers, who give up at the sight f the square root of minus one.

Don't you know, this Bert only takes Bitcoin, although someone here might be able to assist him with bits of coins. The new 1 pound coin here is bimetallic, and they found one batch was faulty and the middle section fell out.

That's similar to the debacle we had here several years ago with one of our state quarters.

Hang on to any of the State of Texas quarters if you
have them. They may be worth much more than 25 cents.

The U.S. Treasury announced that it is recalling all
of the Texas quarters that are part of its program
featuring quarters from each state.

"We are recalling all the Texas quarters that have been
issued," Treasury Undersecretary Jack Shackleford
said Monday. "This action is being taken after numerous
reports that the new quarters will not work in parking
meters, toll booths, vending machines, pay phones, or other
coin-operated devices."

The quarters were issued in the order in which the various
states joined the U.S. and have been a tremendous success
among coin collectors worldwide.

"The problem lies in the unique design of the Texas
quarter, which was created by a Texas A&M grad student," Shackleford said.
"Apparently, the duct tape holding the two dimes and the nickel together
keeps jamming the coin-operated devices."

Beautiful hatchet, but a bit pricey.

Your post made me burst into laughter in front of my computer - not a lot of stuff on the internet does that nowadays, usually I just strongly exhale through my nose when I see moderately amusing things. But this one made me laugh out loud

that is the price of admission to one of the longest running controversies on the internet

try wetterlings instead...about half the price and cachet

both are great northwoods axes but last a very short time in my woods which is primarily hedge and black locust (not even chainsaws like it much)
though they are both great for clearing cedar

You didn't brighten my day!
Now I have to agonize over wanting that hatchet but not being able to even rationalize, let alone justify buying it.
Thanks a lot

That reminds me, several years ago we were surveying along some railroad tracks and there was a 'possum, half on one side of a rail, the other half on the other. Another slow ass 'possum bites the dust.

Along these same tracks a train almost nailed me.
I had the transit set up in the center of the rails with my back to a blind curve underpass, not very far behind me.
I would glance back often of course, but was "giving line" when I heard a train horn and a rumble.
Grabbed the instrument, and jumped to the side just as it whizzed by.
To this day I feel like I wouldn't be here if not for being seen and getting that horn blast.
As far as grabbing the transit before jumping, simply an ingrained instinct to protect it.

Dang, was that a Bobert story?

Another 12 paragraphs and it could be mistaken for a Rupert story.

Let me see... Trying to catch on up the posts of the last week or so. Here goes...

Axes, farm pants, fountain pens, bagpipes, Japanese made in Scotland (or was that the other way around?), we can all trust Bobert... and some people actually prefer Cognac over Scotch? Hah, you almost got me there! And then back to cheese, more food, and bagpipes again. And more axes. And a light sprinkling of squirrels. Especially if combined with axes.

Did I miss anything?

Danish Knäckebröd
I always find that curious. Why do they write it in Swedish if it's Danish? I believe the Danes would call it knækbrød. I have also seen Danish gräddost. Now, flødeost would be Danish. Gräddost is Swedish. Just as knäckebröd is. Which I eat daily. Swedish, though, not Danish. Brilliant food; tasty, and keeps forever. Very much unlike lutefisk which is off forever. Still, it's about the only "food" that's from Norway

The Japanese malt whiskies are really quite good, btw. They can't compete with a good Islay whisky, I think, but still good.
