Thanks Mark.
It's been a while since I heard it.

I beg your pardon!
I turned 70 last month and I have no idea what any of you are blathering on about.
I was raised on musical comedy, light opera, and orchestral music (my older sister's influence - my dad favoured Jimmy Shand and the like)

PS My dad thought Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony "Pathetique" was well named, but mis-spelt; should have been Pathetic.
the reason we are blathering on about the music of our distant youth probably is because we couldn't stand our parents' music
and before "the soundtrack to your life" was a quick quote for a commercial it was a real living thing that defined the formative years for a lot of us

everybody likes what they like
but you could start with the moody blues or yes...they seemed to think they were orchestras

You're most welcome Rod. That version is one of my favourites.

When I was much younger, I could do a reasonable rendition of this song.

8-track! That's taking things to another level, LOL. Dark Side of the Moon is pretty much perfection.

I have one, but I'm missing the horn.

I like quite a bit of Scottish singing from the 60s and before. Also like classical music. And I like bagpipes, if you couldn't tell.

I listen to streaming music more often than something intentionally played

so here I was working on a project and john lee hooker and Santana blast out of my speakers
I realized I had been listening to hooker since the 1966 or so and Santana since 1969 or 70

I've almost always had a "soundtrack" but very few performers have spanned the arc of my life
the notable exception being Carlos Santana..rock, blues, jazz...he's been there since my first foray into real life
Santana was there for my first smoke, my first drink...first just about everything
when you think about it, that's really something

now here is a guy who has played with artists of all genres
he's never stopped embracing the variety of music...he even played with yo yo ma

music didn't stop in 1975
it constantly evolved and wanted you to go along for the ride

the ticket is cheap
get one

Chinatown or two jakes...in one of the movies wire recordings were a part of the story
I once heard a wire recording, on radio, from the western front in WWI.
