Not at all! But we could vote on it if you feel the bagpipes were slighted? May be hard to find many that think it is possible to slight bagpipes?

Off to the Doc this afternoon....Doc #2 of 3. I'm about to get rid of one of them, that I deem incompetent and more interested in herding patients in and out than treating them. Sad, but it happens in every profession.

Not sure what my condition will show today. Yesterday was a bad day...today I feel pretty damn good.Should get back some test results today ...more tests scheduled next week. My lungs feel more clear and are without any real discomfort. Most of my congestion seems to be left the bronchial area. Have only needed to use the albuterol inhaler a couple of times in the last two days. Those were both times I was outside in the 80% humidity and loading/unloading 50# bags of animal feed to my shop.

Hope to get totally clear of the pneumonia soon! One thing the Doc can declare with certainty...I am a bagpipe free patient!

So....maybe better? Maybe not? Whatever, I'll live with it...or I won't!

Regards!

Bagpipes have a reed?
Four actually.
QuoteOriginally posted by tim60 Quote
Yes. On the chanter near where it joins the bag.
And one where each drone joins.

So it isn't in the mouthpiece like on a saxophone or clarinet then?
Yep. Here's a good image to explain it:

Good news!
My new reed arrived in the post this morning, and I love it!
It is even better than the 'perfect' one was, this is now the perfectest reed.
Sounds great, easy to play, etc..
I can now play my 20+ tunes in a row again

Can anyone but you, or the goats, tell that there are 20 different tunes being played?

Well, that is good news.

I don't say I would want to listen to all of your 20+ tunes, but still...

Even the nicest Tube Amp i aver sold in my audio sales career can't make that sound good (and it was $26000 1990 dollars) (Carver Silver Seven Mono block w KT 88 upgrade)

the drones and chanter are all emitting separate sounds

they leap into the ether and combine to one single exhilarating noise...cool huh?

for a few years I played an electric tuned to some D chord on five strings while the sixth was tuned an octave up
a lovely sinister drone...sounded positively medieval

THe King of Southern expressions:
"Bless your heart." (or his/her heart)

For those who don't understand the meaning - This is not a blessing. It does not mean "god be with you, go with God, etc.
It has a unique purpose. When prefixed or suffixed with Bless your/his/her heart any mild to moderate insults are perfectly acceptable. e.g. "You're and idiot" is unacceptable in polite society but "There's probably a much better way to do that; bless your heart" has, in reality, the exact same connotation, but is acceptable due to the plausible deniability of its meaning. Another example would be "Well bless his heart, at least he did his best." vs "He couldn't find his butt with both hands and a map."
