That's insane! If you were at the back you couldn't hear or see a damn thing anyhow! You couldn't get me there even for free beer! You are a wise man Bob. Think of the pain and suffering you would endure there.......Hmmm....I guess you already did!

Regards!

Another decent day...not as good as yesterday but not half bad. Sure hope I can continue to improve, the boredom and monotony of being caged so much is really oppressive. Then again, with 99.5F out there today and 75%humidity, I was pretty glad to be inside!

The best my telco offers is 12mbps, which is for an added $10 premium on the monthly bill.

In qualified areas, of course.

They also mention 115mbps but one must call to ask.

I bet I already know the answer.

Again, what really sucks is the cable carrier has fiber that dead ends 1 mile from my door. And they don't see a financial incentive to extend the line. I don't blame them either. If they don't bury it the winter storms and snow knocking down trees will result in very high maintenance and repair costs. Or, should they bury it, well they get away from the high maintenance and repair costs, but it takes a long time to recoup the high cost of burying the lines.

Oh dear!

I've worked out why so slow today - The kids seem to be playing xbox online. That eats some data.

Thanks Mark.....If this trend keeps up, I will be back out and about soon. Still have some tests next week and am going to have some residual damage to deal with forever, but I think it will be manageable. The pulmonologist has already ruled out cancer with those two spots on my lungs, so that is a plus too. Just want to get back to "normal"....whatever that is?

Regards

The wire at the top is Comcast fiber.

The wire just below is Frontier (previously Verizon/AT&T/General Telephone/Bell Telephone) telephone.

In 30 years working at an electric utility it always amused me how many people called power poles telephone poles, even when there was no telco attached to the pole.

In fact, the telco here has few poles that they own, rather they have joint pole agreements with the utility to attach to the power poles below the neutral. The engineers size the power poles to accommodate the extra load of attachments of telco and cable.
a friend worked a couple of hurricanes wherever he was at had inverted power...power then phone

UPRR had the same arrangement at a switch yard west of here
without a bucket truck you had to climb through the signal stuff to get to the voice

Just kidding... we left those dial-up years behind about 8 years ago.
High-speed internet now! Around 1 Mbps or 2 Mbps on a good day.

There is a joke, and it concerns an orange, a garden hose and a woman.

NSFW.
