As to the discomfort itself, Mike, just remember that it'll quit hurting once the pain goes away.

Yep, it sucks Big Time. It seems like I was rolling along through life carefree and without a problem......then I started breaking things...then parts started to fail or go sideways and all of a sudden I am old and all worn out......there was hardly any warning, it just "came about".

You do feel better when the pain goes away, but hell...you know it will be coming back anytime so you can't do much celebrating.

I am on no meds. My doctor is an outlier. He is not a pill pusher. There is a small trend starting in the US. Doctors are actually starting to prescribe diet and exercise instead of pills.

I'd ask for his contact info, but the commute to his office would be a killer.

Actually, my MD is taking a similar approach. And on the rare occasion he does try and foist drugs on me, I remind him that there are always non pharmaceutical alternatives to try first.

Actually, my MD is taking a similar approach. And on the rare occasion he does try and foist drugs on me, I remind him that there are always non pharmaceutical alternatives to try first.

Some honesty here......the reality for me is that a drug may beat the hell out of bunch of exercise and dieting on carrots and lettuce.Sure, you die sooner, but you still die and all the while you were missing living. If a drug can work without being a distinct hazard to your health......why not take the easy route? This is sort of "new thinking" for me, but anything that asks of more sacrifice, like diet and exercise, is not finding a welcome home here.

BTW- I wake up every night about 4-5 hours after bedtime.....about when the wine wears off. I have all kinds of meds to get me back to sleep. Some work better than others, and most are prescription drugs. What works best by far.....a good shot of Nyquil! Maybe because it not only knocks you out, it stops my coughing while breaking up the congestion in my upper chest. Good stuff.......probably not all that good for you, but it works, and that's what I am looking for at 2am.

Passed near you yesterday. Had a 650 mile day, the AC on my car was acting up, and it was 104°.

So we couldn't budget any time to stop and say hello.
