Mrs Bob's yearly turn to host bunco tonight.
Theme: Christmas in July.
Her desserts: 2 Almond Joy pies, and a peach cobbler.
Brooke the lab and I will be holed up in the basement, here's hoping the 12 young ladies upstairs don't have large appetites so there's plenty of leftovers.

This place is really jumping! At 102F here and 70% humidity with zero breeze I can understand why the squirrels are not out anywhere. They are all drinking that cold beer...and I assume you guys are out there with them?

For those of you missing Bert...but not completely gone melancholy.......

I saw on the wall sign behind the girl that a yodeler was up next.....bet that was better?

Regards!

Jim, That's going too far!

There is no more vile sounding instrument than an accordion. I'd rather listen to disco while eating a barbed wire sandwich.

Damn, I bet those would go well with lutefisk! I'm sure Bob can fix you one on one of his grills.

I'm with you, but some here love those bagpipe sounds and I was thinking this might be less annoying....but I was dead wrong. Sorry.

Was fine for Otis.......he didn't listen he just looked at the "pretty pictures". Me too!

Up to 103 F....death out there for someone in my shape....My helper worked all day in the heat detailing Mrs Rupert's car....car looks great...helper looks like a wet rag doll. I cut her lots of slack...lots of breaks, and let her work half naked too.

Regards!

BTW- I'd like a Pie Report from Bob on any leftover pie? My bet is there won't be any? Which is why I would sneak some in advance....

Bunch of Lutefisk haters... It`s an acquired taste, no worse than going to the barber-shop and being forced to make small talk while getting a hair-cut.

There's a reason I cut my own hair.

And lutefisk is not an acquired taste. It is, like olives, something you eat as punishment for having survived long enough to be an adult.

I'm happy to report that I have not had to set foot in a barbershop since 1991.

I hope that someday I'll have the chance to try what is, to me, the Holy Grail of seaffood. Geoduck!
Way back when, right after dropping out of college to go to work in civil engineering, a few of us from the office went to lunch everyday, always choosing a different place. As long as the food was good and we could get a beer, we went there.

One day a new cafe opened up within a short walk of the office and there were neon beer signs in the windows.

So we went there for lunch.

They had geoduck on the menu, so I ordered it. Came with fries. And lemon slices.

It was like a steak, thick, big and juicy. Of course it was clam colored, not seared and pink inside. It had been tenderized somehow, I suspect from a marinade, and it was delicious.

I bugged the guys from the office to go there 2 or 3 times a week for at least a month.

Then it was still on the weekly rotation until I moved to a different line of work.

Good times.

Great geoduck.

Olives are awesome, a taco without, would not be a Taco!

The sun may be out but it's freezing outside. There's snow on the low hills near our home visible below the clouds. The dogs are not moving! (No real squirrels were harmed!)
Annie's gone for a 4-hour training run. Madness.
