It is very noble of you to keep them out of the gas chamber Mark.

They make fine pets Racer. Not smelly (except for their farts) and no barking.
Both ours are retired racers. Sadly, we did not get any of the racing winnings!

we didn't know it until we saw it
sighthounds scoop up their prey from behind, toss it into the air, catch it by the head and it is all over

the first squirrel annie (the greyhound) caught just reached around and bit her on the beak
big mistake

that was the only downside to living with sighthounds...
annie was an ex-racer and murphy came from a rancher who ran his pack against coyotes and jackrabbits...
their prey drive was sooooo high

however once we were aware of the visual cues we could intervene otherwise there was no stopping them

we raised murphy with a beagle and a schnauzer
she was 55 pounds when we got her as a puppy and about 120 pounds as an adult

sighthounds don't bark much...unless they have been raised with yappy schnauzers
they don't scent much...unless they've been raised with snuffling hounds

a yard-high critter that acted as watchdog and splayed her long-ass legs to get her nose into he act was...let's say...entertaining

I had a relative up in the panhandle of Texas that raised Greyhounds for racing, then kept them when they retired.Seems like at the time we visited when I was around 14, he had over a dozen of them. They were the neatest doggies! I always wanted one for a pal, but it just never happened.Wonderful doggies they are!

Regards!

While on the subject of dogs, this brought tears to my eyes twice, once when I read about it in this morning's paper, and again when I saw a video clip.
Military dog's tearful final farewell draws hundreds in Michigan

I did that for about 15 years.
I still do. But the result of that is not me having long hair. Quite the contrary.

My wife took this a few years back - I have had this do for almost 15 years now. Low maintenance - and very practical when travelling!

Why would you be using a View-Master when you have such a neat scene right in front of you?

When you've seen one elephant you've seen them all, surely? Besides, this scene was taken as we had afternoon tea. Those critters should know it's rude to interrupt people having a cuppa.

Our routine during our stay was to get up before sunrise for a breakfast, then head out for a walk. Stop after a while for tea (and cake, of course), then walk some more before returning to camp for lunch (with desserts, og course). Then a couple of hours for siesta through the hottest part of the day before afternoon tea (with cake, of course) before an afternoon game drive with a stop for a sundowner (with snacks, of course), a night drive back to camp for a three course dinner.

Quite exhausting, really.

I'm sure, probably took a week for your jaws to rest.

My dad made me get a military cut a few times as I was growing up. I always wondered why he didn't just sit me down in the kitchen and take the shears to me.

Only cost was the time and the electricity to run the clippers.

And no need to let some stinky old guy in a white smock shove my head this way and that while buzzing away.

If I was inclined to wear it that way today I'd do it myself.

Easy squeezy

No Pain

No stain

Exactly! And we even had to pay for it, canyoubelieveit!

But I must say, having a tea bearer with you when you go for a walk is something I didn't expect to experience

In two months and a bit. Surely we can do better than that. Maybe we can exceed previous years.
