Found a recliner for our son, he does a lot of online gaming after work and spends a lot of time in the old one with laptop. After at least 25 years, the old one is getting a bit thin in the padding. Plus it'll make a nice comfy place for me when I boot him out and watch movies! <grin>

Gift, in Norwegian as in English, comes from "give". But the part just in front, "av", means "off". So it's something you give away.

Btw, "gift" also means "married" in Norwegian. And it means "poison".

All good mind stretching for them. EDUCATION.

Given freely and with joy in our hearts!

It's a bit like when we pay our insurances. We're told that we're paying a "premie", which means "prize"

Now, why does that bring me to think of piracy...

It is good to know that the little annoyances in life are universal, no matter where you live.

As I usually say, "if I have nothing worse to complain about..."

I have nothing to complain about except the list of things wrong with me.

As I've pointed out probably more than once, when the USA decided to adopt the metric system about during the 1970's they did the dumbest thing possible, something that insured failure. Children were taught the "old" English system first, then were taught how to convert those values to the "new" metric (or SI) system. Doomed the changeover before it got started.
A few years ago an American basketball player demanded a trade from the Toronto Raptors because the Canadian school system was inferior. Inferior why? Because they were teaching his kid metric.

I see this a sign of great hope. When I left the U.S. the issues would have been the draft and racial equality . If an issue like metric is the important thing on his mind these days, the country is a much better place.

Norm, Metric has been the official measurement system of the United States since January 1, 1880. We just choose to ignore it.
Anticipating this insanity, America prepared in advance:
"Daniel Myron LeFever is credited with the invention of the American hammerless shotgun. Working for Barber & LeFever in Syracuse, N.Y. he introduced his first hammerless shotgun in 1878. This gun was cocked with external cocking levers on the side of the breech."

Thanks to the shotgun, you can drive 80 mph in W Texas, never having to calculate your speed, and never see anything but a few shreds of metric signs scattered about on the roadside.

This seems appropriate for the current discussion.

And speaking of a set of pipes. And to think that at the time, Judith Durham never thought that she was a good looking woman.

Just took a 3 hour nap.....slept like a dead man. Now I will have all the energy I need to do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day! Works for me!

We did go over to the next town yesterday evening and ate at the Taco Bell there. First drive of any distance I have made on over 3 months. I did OK. Got a little winded but handled it.
Two people can eat well and fill up at Taco Bell for under $6. total, drinks and all. Decent food, nothing gourmet, although the 5 layer burrito and Texas taco are pretty damn delicious! Good to get out for a change......I hope to get enough better to do it more often! Those little things are more important than we realize if we lose the ability to do them.

Must be better today.....with no help from the oxygen machine or my inhaler meds, I am near normal on my oxygen level here at 1:30 in the afternoon.
