Try QR 921. Takes 18 hours and 20 minutes. 14,534 kilometres. Boeing 777-200LR.

Thank you both. She was in the Air Force ROTC at CO State until recently when they said her eyesight is just too poor to proceed.
She's sharp as a tack and has worked unbelievably long and hard towards making the AF her career like her dad, my son.
She's taking it in stride, but it's heartbreaking for the rest of us.

She will be successful at something because she has demonstrated the necessary character to succeed. The things she did to succeed are a good foundation for other things too.

Study always opens up many options, unlike the attempt to go forward in sport or music when the young person is more enthusiastic than capable.

Not got round to that... yet... I may do it next summer. Starting to go below freezing at night here.

Now you just remember the points in my last post - about over devoting yourself to "music".

Below freezing must be a problem when wearing a dress. Think of the wind blowing about.

Just googled it. Auckland to Adelaide, 4 hours. Today delayed 2 hours 17 minutes.

Apparently they use the same flight number for the Auckland to Doha service.

Thanks, I'll pass.

Planes are boring, really boring. Airports are flat out life draining.

Why can't they invent teleporting? Or, slightly less improbable, gravity trains? Or at least implement Hyperloops?

Still, I enjoy going places. Or rather, I enjoy being places. It's the going I generally don't enjoy.

When I was young, in my 20s, flying was fun and sort of special. I could walk into Love FIeld in Dallas and buy a ticket, be on the plane in minutes and enjoy a really good meal.....if I flew Braniff. There were few restrictions...there was even smoking...imagine that!
The traffic was manageable, the parking lot had plenty of room....the flight attendants had not been trained by prison guards to give you the roughest treatment.
We all know what it is like today. Can't blame the airlines for all of it. Our culture has changed....our fellow flyers are not the same as they were back then. I've flown on flights with chickens in cages...in first class...and some free roamers in tourist class. I've flown where there were Voodoo chanters that never stopped the entire flight. It is a different world out there........Even chickens probably don't like it?

Regards!

Well, hot air balloons are indeed special...

Ok, ok, you aren't that much older than me - I, too, can remember the time when you could get through an airport fairly quickly and without having your body cavities probed, even for international flights.

The flights were still dead boring, though. Like a long bus ride, just more uncomfortable.

That is why you sit in the last seats in the rear, where the stewardesses sit. Not boring at all!

The longest flight I've ever been on was New York to Bangkok, 17 hour and way to many extra minutes. We flew eastward over Europe, Russia and China. Once that leg of the trip was done we had another 6 hrs of traveling to go. Coming back we continued eastward over the pacific to land back in New York, ended up circumnavigating the globe on that trip. (the things parents do for their children)

I don't mind being a passenger on an airplane but that long being folded into a big cigar tube is a bit much. After about 8 hrs on both legs I reverted to my childhood and kept asking myself if we were there yet.
