Been watching Gunsmoke...I found a Gunsmoke channel. I thought I had seen every episode......apparently not? Good stuff!

Regards!

Racer...What's wrong with the Golden Rule? Like your version, it simply doesn't work with everyone. Can't expect it to, we would all be perfect if it did......but....it would sure be nice if it worked more often than it does in this world, wouldn't it?

What happens if you meet someone who follows the Golden Rule, and he's a masochist?

Isn't old-er age nice?

I remembered this from many years ago, crazy what you can find with a search engine, saves me a lot of typing.

Chester comes riding into to Dodge City Buck Naked! Matt: "Whoa
Chester! you can't be running around like that without your
clothes...how do you explain yourself?" Chester: "Well you know... me
and Miss Kitty were riding out by the Thomas ranch and we stopped at
that little lake to water our horses...then Miss Kitty said "it would
sure be nice if we could take a swim here being so hot as it is"...and
I told her we didn't have no bathing suits. Miss Kitty then told me to
hide behind a bush while she got naked and in the lake...then I was to
do the same. After a few minuets we both came out of that lake...both
naked! and Miss Kitty said to me "you know Chester now that we are
both naked...and there is nobody around...and you're a man and I'm a
woman...I can't think of one reason why you don't just "mount up" and
"go to town!" "So here I am Mr Dillon!"

Mines at 6.15, I've slowed down a bit in the last few months... it used to be around 12...

Of course, I had to go google it to find the Norwegian:
"Man skal ikke plage andre,
man skal være grei og snill,
og for øvrig kan man gjøre hva man vil."

And while little of that is readable to me the "plage andre" part is very close to Afrikaans "pla andere" Always interesting how languages sometimes intertwine.

To change the subject. This is the farm where my wife and I go every year to pick grapes. What doesn't really show is the million dollar view you get to enjoy. It is about 45 miles from our house in the Bristol Hills just south of Naples. NY. Technically some are mountains, but they have always been called hills by the natives. This area of the state The Finger Lakes has become quite the wine region. The native legend of the area is that the lakes are the hand print where God touched the land. I see no reason to doubt this either. I figure a little good news is needed.

What a nice story. Reminded me of a page I read recently about the world's 100 oldest businesses in continuous family ownership. See Family Business - The World's Oldest Family Companies

Finger Lakes and wine. On the day after the London Tube bombing of July 2005 I was travelling around the Finger Lakes region with a German man. We arrived at Hosmer Winery. He said, "does not look like Disneyland, it is probably worth going in." I got a raspberry desert wine there that we drank a few years later. Quite good.

Still on the subject...
There is a farm in Tasmania still in the same family since about 1824:
Brickenden at Longford, Tas.
Still run as a sheep farm.
Here is the first house, 1824;

With good wool prices and (free) convict labour, this is the house they built 5 years later;

Further to the Brickenden story, four brothers took up land in the area at the same time.
I don't know what happened to two of the others, but the third property remained in the family name until the sixth generation died in the mid 1990's without children, and left the property into a foundation for all Tasmanians to enjoy.
