Yes it is.

You could have a fraction of a millimeter, couldn't you?
You could. But decimals are usually more convenient since it keeps it simple to change units - e.g. from millimeters to micrometers if mm gets too long for what you're measuring.

Funny how our American friends founded their country on getting rid of kings but use measures based on the sizes of kings. Logic defying.

Around here the roads could be slippery at just about any temperature.

Someone told me it rains a lot here, and well, wet roads can be slick, especially if something gets spilled on them that may enhance that lubricity.

What's really tricky is when it has been raining and then it freezes, and then snows.

No enhancement needed.
...or when the air temperature is above freezing, the ground is sub-zero - and it rains.

Another thing that complicates it all is when they salt the roads to lower the freezing point. Suddenly you might get the most slippery ice well below 0C. Me not like.

True. But if that had been the most logic defying thing being done in this world I would have been tap dancing with joy!

But that is in decimal places of a mm.

there seems to be ...for the sake of simplicity...two kinds of people
those who do as they please
those who do as they are told
America has always had an abundance of the former

The old Germans around here call it slick ice, "Be careful going to the store, there's slick ice out there."

I've lived in Indiana for over 3 years now and I still don't like the climate here.

There are lots of things about the American revolution that are logic defying.
One of the most so is that, after we kicked their ***** and threw them out of the country, the British came back less than 40 years later so we could do it again. confused2

the quote didn't stick
bob, I missed your graphic commentary

recently while travelling google map took us somewhere that wasn't
an updated garmin said it was but you couldn't get there from here
i pulled out a delorme and used a little gps which said...you are well and truly screwed

we drove back about twenty miles to a blacktop
took a another reading
we drove another couple of miles west and found a signed bit of gravel
headed south and were rewarded with our intended destination

I wondered if there was a rusting heap of automobiles full of bleached bones at the end of the original track

Could it be that a good kick in the pants is addictive?

They do sink their own ships you know.
HMS Queen Elizabeth has been taking on up to 200 litres of sea water every hour

Maybe if it had been built using king size measurements............

At that rate it would take 300,000 hours to fill to its displacement. That is about 30 years or more. Mid life upgrade - pump out the water and get another 30 years.
