Well, we used to be Danish, so I'd say your expertise is well founded

Eirikr was an Icelander born in Norway, while Leifr was a Greenlander born in Iceland. But since Norwegians are such a humble and modest people we claim them both.
Eirikr had a quarrel with his neighbour in Norway, which lead to the neighbour's death. Eirkr then had to flee flee the country to settle on Iceland. Problem was, he didn't get along too well with his neighbours on Iceland either. More quarrels and dead neighbours led to Eirikr having to leave Iceland - and he went to Greenland. Things worked out a lot better on Greenland since he didn't have any neighbours there. By clever marketing and naming of the land (Greenland!) he managed to draw more settlers there, too.
Btw, I giess there might be some truth to the claim that Norwegians don't go out much. We still measure the distance to our neighbours in "stone's throws".
