I truly did not think there was anything worse than bagpipes.
I stand corrected.

been off enjoying Mother Nature at the seaside for a few days, so way behind on the important stuff like keeping up in The Eternal Thread. But, having just learned about this band from my son via FarceBook, I feel obliged to pass it on:

Hatebeak - The Thing that Should Not Beak - YouTube
why

and by the way, I wasn't brave enough to hit the link

It seems there's a death-metal band, lead "vocalist" is an African Grey Parrot. For real. Yep. That is "Hatebeak"... Why they exist? No idea. Why did I feel obliged to pass it on? Just because I'm that kinda guy! <evil_grin>

To make up for all the pain and suffering I may have induced here's a snapshot of Monday's sunset from our weekend getaway. Those of you still enduring nor'easters and such, it can give you something to look forward to. <another_evil_grin>

I actually sent that YouTube link to a friend of mine. My best friend, I grew up with him, and he's like me in so many ways... but he has this thing for really extreme heavy metal bands (he's 51 this year, BTW). I sent the link as a joke, but a tiny part of me is terrified that he'll actually like it...

The weird thing is, he has excellent taste in a lot of music. We're off to see The Stranglers together on 29th March, and we've been to many excellent gigs by fantastic bands... but this death-metal thing, parrot or no, just confuses me

I find the death-metal bands are sometimes good background music for when I need to concentrate on a programming issue or something like that. It's usually got no intelligible lyrics, so my brain can just let it wash thru without trying to pick out the song. I also like foreign-language folk etc music, for the same reason. Finnish Suommi, Mongolian throat-singers, Norwegian viking rocker, Australian native singing (and didgeridooing of course), any and all of it's good

Music was so much more simple when I was younger, we had Rock and Roll, all the rest was old folks music.

That's odd.

I been a great grandpa for a couple years now.

Sort of.

Mrs. Racer's son used to be married to a gal who had a baby girl when he met her. That girl has grown into a young woman and followed in in her mother's footsteps and produced a child, much like her mother. Has no idea who the father is, or he is making himself scarce, I'm not sure which.

Still, its a cute little baby.

And it kinda feels nice playing the great grandpa gig.

Congratulations.

Hopefully the emphasis in 'great' is not on the extra generation prerequisite of having been around a while longer that some of us.
