Yeah, Aussie lifesavers bring a board with them, they want the swimmer to hold on to that, not them, because someone drowning will just clutch on to a rescuer and put them into trouble, too.

We do get a few multiple drownings, usually of tourists, where a brother or sister not much better at swimming than their siblings, tries to do a rescue and repeatedly gets dragged under themselves.

I should add that was once every 18 months for 20 years.

More than 13 moves.

here it goes

I have an 2015 Audi A 5 it developed a problem, throwing codes when accelerating, EPC, Traction Control, Tire Pressure warning and then severe loss of power

had it towed to dealership and service in Kansas City Mo.

their report, the gasoline was contaminated with water

' looked like lemonade '

fuel pump contaminated

fuel needs to be drained and pump replace

NO WARRANTY COVERAGE because of contaminated fuel, told to complain to gas station

I use Shell - premium no alcohol

the gas station says they have had no reports of problems

newly installed pumps

recent inspected

Happened to my parents-in-law, Allan. Luckily others in the town had it happen to them, too, so the local service station owner had to invoke his insurance policy in a big way with lots of payouts.

That's rough! Hard to put down roots with so many moves.
My parents moved once every 5 years, for my dad's work - until we got to Cape Town. That was it. My mother refused to move again.

I was taught you did everything you could to avoid going into the water

throw, row, reach go was last resort

and if you go, take something with you, board, towel, stick, anything and keep them at arm's length

if grabbed, sink as fast as you can, as deep as you can go

drowning people don't like going under water they want to stay on top

if they don't let go

fight and forget the rules

you are literally fighting for your life

Drat. At least they don't have to have it towed back to the dealership.
When I bought (started paying on) my first car in 1965, a '63 Chevy Impala, a guy had just bought a brand new Impala.
Pulled it off the lot and had an accident in front of the dealership.
When they were towing it back in he said "I still want the car." Even at my young age I thought, so you think you have a choice?

Like 1950's cars.

The gas caps are hidden in all sorts of places. On Fords, behind the licence plate.

On Cadillacs, behind the one rear light cluster.

Like this:
I think the '56 Chevy had it behind the tail light too.

Sure did!

GM started with the behind the left taillight location with the post-war Cadillacs.

That was a 'feature' of the Ford Pinto, wasn't it?

If you must.

Well, you didn't give us much of a chance, now did you?

QuoteOriginally posted by Aslyfox Quote

Are those codes, or are they idiot lights on the instrument cluster?

Codes are extracted with a code reader, or by triggering the ECM to flash the CEL (or whatever it is called on your Audi) in a sort of morse code that can be interpreted to collect the fault codes.

and then severe loss of power
There is a code for that?

I bet that cost a buck or two.

Why didn't you drive it there?

QuoteOriginally posted by Aslyfox Quote

fuel pump contaminated
You could have saved yourself a lot of money, time and frustration by pouring a container of Heet (gas dryer) available at your local auto parts store.

Did you ask to see this 'lemonade' they found?

Well at least now you have a new fuel pump and a clean gas tank.

QuoteOriginally posted by Aslyfox Quote
NO WARRANTY COVERAGE because of contaminated fuel, told to complain to gas station
Of course.

It isn't Audi's fault the gas station sold you bad fuel.

QuoteOriginally posted by Aslyfox Quote

I always buy the lowest price fuel available.

Always have.

Those stations have high volume, and likely have less risk of water or other contaminants.

I have never had problems with water in my fuel. Gasoline or diesel. My Subaru Legacy, bought new in 2005, has over 165,000 miles on it. Never had a problem. My 2001 Dodge Ram, diesel, over 135,000 miles, and never found water in the water/fuel separator.

I know you don't like driving much, so I bet I've consumed a lot more fuel than you over the years.

QuoteOriginally posted by Aslyfox Quote

Of course they did.

They don't want to be on the hook for your expenses.

They just want to sell you more watered down gasoline.

QuoteOriginally posted by Aslyfox Quote
newly installed pumps
So?

As someone else mentioned, the water is in the tanks, underground. The pumps are simply a conduit to the tank on your car.

QuoteOriginally posted by Aslyfox Quote
recent inspected
Again, not of any consequence. Typical inspections of fuel stations are of the accuracy of the pumps, to ensure you, the consumer, get every gallon you pay for.

There are periodic inspections of the surrounding area underground, by core drilling and sampling of the soil to ensure the integrity of the underground tanks, but they only happen every 5 years or so.

Don't get mad, get even.

Buy Chevron.

Or Sinclair.

Or go to a high volume place like QuickTrip.

No.

The Pinto just burst into flames when involved in a collision.

One more thought.

Since your car sits a lot, it is possible that the water was introduced by condensation. This is a common problem for vehicles that aren't driven frequently.

I use a fuel additive in my Dodge that prevents this problem, as I don't drive it but only once a month or so these days.

Something you might consider.

Yeah, wasn't it a fuel tank at the rear like this, in proximity to wiring for the tail lights?
