I have always disliked automatic transmissions in ice and snow. They offer no engine braking as a manual transmission does.

If you are stuck, and need to start off in second gear, you cannot do so with an automatic.

Lots of newer cars have a lock button by the tranny to force it into a specific gear. I taught my wife how to get unstuck using 2nd in her crapbox Aveo when it got too slick.

It is a simple job to remove the wheels, blow the sensors clean with a combination of some spray brake cleaner (available at your local auto parts store) and compressed air.

I need to make sure everyone understands that even though today's brakes should not have asbestos in them, the dust generated may still be bad to breathe.

That is why you need to wash the stuff down with the brake cleaner I mentioned. You can also make your own, mix up a batch of simple green and pour it into a spray bottle.

Cheap, and effective.

Then blow dry with shop air.

At the moment it's easy as far as Tesla is concerned - They're not self driving - yet - and the driver is supposed to be in control of the car at all times.

The Joshua Brown crash deserves special mention. Brown had set the speed control at 74mph in a 65mph zone. Neither he, nor the car, saw the truck that made the illegal turn in front of his speeding car. Unfortunately for Brown, the car went straight under the trailer unit of the truck and the car became a convertible. It did not crash after the initial collision but rather slowed down and stopped - autonomously. Unfortunately, Brown did not duck before hitting the truck.

I've seen the results of that type of crash. Not pretty when the roof is peeled off like removing the lid from a sardine can.

The wheel speed sensors are small magnets. The brake linings are mostly metallic (sintered iron) these days. As the brakes wear the metal from the brake wear collects on the sensor magnets, fouling them.

I charge an hour labor for it.

Easy.

Squeezy.

No pain.

No stain.

Sounds like a problem I had with a treadmill exercise machine a while back. The DC motor was brushed and the airflow blew the dust over the control circuit board, which eventually got fouled enough that it shorted, producing a dead short across the mains, and a loud noise, a flash, and blowing the house circuit protection. The board cost about quarter the price of the whole machine to replace. That is the kind of design I have often encountered in products from China.
