Jim, you could have posted one of a good looking tree rat! Or a better angle of that one.

Give him a break, Les! He doesn't have much practice shooting squirrels.

Hey, I think that is a pretty good looking squirrel! It is all relative, of course, we are talking tree rats here.

It makes me think I should have a few throw-down squirrel pictures. Heaven knows I've got enough good opportunities right where I live.

Yes, I need more practice at shooting squirrels........

Just for you guys, here is one of Otis himself I shot this afternoon. It didn't meet his standards or approval, but I'm posting it anyhow. You can tell it is an "Authentic Otis" shot by the little sh*t eatin' grin that only Otis has.

At the potential risk of bringing this back to something resembling the original topic:

I just noticed that the battery that came with the k-3 has a manufacturing date of 2012-09, and is stamped "Pentax Ricoh Imaging Corporation". I've no idea what that means, but it made me go "Hmmmm".

Just checked the battery from my K5iis against the K3 which arrived today.
K5iis is 201209 and K3 is 201210
Look to be exactly the same.

It means that the K-3 is using the exact same DLI90's as the other Pentax bodies. They start shipping K-3's and just take the available DLI90's from their warehouse to pack it with. No big deal, imho. Not everything has to mean something.

LOL! Fair enough... I can adjust.

[Clavius puts on tinfoil hat.]
Well, obviously the fact they're still using "Pentax Ricoh Imaging" batteries indicates that there is some kind of safety embedding deeply into the operating system of the Pentax line of cameras. Lenses, batteries and straps are accepted only if the Pentax name is still present. Also, the prototype K-3's refused to power on when they replace the Pentax reference on the prism housing, but resumed operation as soon as it was relabelled with the word "Pentax". Ricoh engineers are working hard to crack this, but for the time being it seems like they haven't been very succesful.

My two batteries the came with my K-3 have a date 201307.. also says PRIC... just means the manufacturing plant in China hasn't received the memo..

Hell, the battery charger still stays HOYA CORPORATION with a manu-date of 2012-09 :P
