Actually I'm one of those guilty of mocking the neceoposters... I've noticed Adam commenting on old photos and sent him a pm.
He said that the site was designed in a way that encourages commenting on old photos (I think in case one missed them the first time).
So, apparently commenting on photos is encouraged, even though said pictures might be quite old.

don't worry about it

you won't ever get the approval of every one

however I urge you, unless the photo is in the critique section, to make any " constructive criticism " comments via PM first

and don't make them public unless the poster oks it.

I know I appreciate those who do so

I think every site or forum has its set of unwritten rules... the problem with that is guessing what they are!
