Chilled ... I wish I was.

Too hot for us without any A/C ... only the car has A/C. In fact, I have never had A/C in any of my French domiciles.

At least the ground floor of our house is cut into a small slope and on rock bed, so it stays pretty steady cool ... but upstairs where the bedrooms are is a different story. Getting hotter and hotter ... and Justine is sleeping on the couch downstairs.

So hot and dry that EDF, the French electricity company, is reducing output at several nuke plants due to river water being too warm to act as an effective coolant ... plus some of the rivers in question are pretty low, too.

There was an article in Le Monde about how many nuke sites are going to suffer if temperatures keep rising and water levels keep falling ... the Civaux site which is about 30+ miles from me is maybe N° 1 on this worry list ... when it was built there was a lot a doubt that the Vienne river could support the needs of two reactors. It's my understanding that the two do not run at the same time in the summer as opposed to sometimes in the winter. When the conditions are right, one can see the plume cloud rising from one (or both) of the cooling towers.

Anyway, it's supposed to be more manageable heat as of Wednesday ... fingers crossed.
Even Sweden has shut down one of its reactors due to the too hot river water. Crazy, crazy weather this summer.

All my life I've admired old men and old dogs.
Now I am one, and I have one.
Life is good!

I had my feet fixed years ago. I had plantar fasciitis so bad I could barely walk on my feet. Luckily orthodics and not surgery was the cure.

Well we bought some pickled herring at my son's suggestion to use as catfish bait. No luck there but I did try some and it wasn't hideous.

Yup. That's a lesson you learn early in life.
A bunch of friends lived together in college. Of these guys was particular well endowed and made the mistake of cooking breakfast in nothing but a dressing gown. The rest of the household came running when he began to holler. Apparently, his manhood slithered through the front of his dressing gown while he reached for the salt and pepper. I guess John Thomas got branded that day.

Posting seem to be being hampered by a new directive ( I said the free camera has gone free )
But don't despair humility will rise to the occasion

I hate to spoil your illusions, but several of us received "green" status as a reward for being in the few poster list over an entire month.

{emphasis added}

I am making use of my "green" status to post more photos, because I no longer have to ration attachments - before, most of my photos were only squirrels posted on Rupert's thread, but now I feel able to post other photos elsewhere.
I guess I was silly and paid for my green

The worlds first ( only in the USA ) Amish taxi service has started.
The horses like carrots but prefer apples but don't like to be photographed ....oh sorry the driver.........silly me
Bob's become old....er and has a dog but still can't fit in the font

The heat is on in Europe and the power stations are closing down just when you NEED the power...
