Awesome work Scotty.

Congratulations.
Thanks! I needed a good pick me up today, and that did it.

I used the K1, Samyang 135 at f/2.5, and had it on a mount tracking this area and took 70 2 minute exposures, then stacked them and processed them in Photoshop.
So what file type do you use, tif, jpg . . . . ?

How large is each image?

How large is the final composite?

The reason I ask is that when processing gigapano images the file size becomes so large that Photoshop will only save in one file format ( I forget which right now and Iím not on my computer).

Very impressive. I think you need to do a tutorial.

I stack the .dng files in DSS 4.4.1 and then save them as a 16 bit tif file. That file is between 200 and 300 mb. After that I open it in Photoshop and then do my levels, curves, noise reduction, star reduction, etc and save it as a jpeg. That file is between 5 and 8 mb.

DSS is a free program. Unfortunately Photoshop is not. DSS does do an autosave as a 32 bit tif, but that locks out some filters and functions in Photoshop, which is why I always do a 16 bit tif.

I may do that some time, but there is another person on the forum who is way better than I am. @Pete_XL blows me away on processing.

Not such a long word. In Australia usually prefixed, except in radio talk about the cricket where it would be consider offensive with a gerund adjective starting with "w" and synonymous with 'complaining'.

no cross country treks or rock hopping for them

Near Coleshill, where the producer of the Beatles used to live (he died a couple of years back) a woman in a SUV was irate because I stopped on a lane with both my car wheels on the bitumen, as close tot he side of the road as possible, to allow her to pass, which would require her to run her passenger side wheels onto the grass at the side, with her driver side wheels still well on the bitumen. That was too off road for her. Seemed to be missing the point of her SUV.
