But there's something very comforting to me about the smell of a carved out turnip heated by the candle inside.
Better than the smell of napalm I would suppose.

Same here. I went for a walk around 6-7 pm and encountered hundreds (yes hundreds) of children high on sugar blackmailing their way from house to house for more. I guess this means I was away just during peak hour, but we had none calling before or after, either.

I would much have preferred the retail business to have left Halloween on the other side of the pond

To give myself a little credit, I did have a small basket of candy (sweets, we call 'em here) at the ready... you know, just in case someone figured out the subterfuge or got past the defences. I had thought about filling it with cough sweets instead of Haribo, but hey - I'm not a monster...

Bwahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Ooooh, you stumbled into the wrong part of town...

I own a K-3 (and a K-3II), but I rarely mention it. It's taken some time before I can wander around here confidently. I still carry a big stick, just in case

It's a *jungle* in here...

I did contemplate getting some of my brother's powdered Carolina Reapers and prepare some sweets, but I'm not certain it's worth going to jail for...

@Aberrator - just walk behind me, stay close, don't make eye contact with anyone and whatever you do, don't even think about the K-3... They can sense it...

@Aberrator;

Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck.
