Those are called a cystoscope, the procedure called a cystoscopy.

I’ve had two.

The first when I was ten years old, the second a couple years ago.

Neither caused an infection, but they are very unpleasant just the same.

That infection was treated very quickly with some not too aggressive antibiotics and cleared quickly. But really glad the camera was not as large as the namesake of this thread. That might have hurt somewhat more.

Welcome back Racer!

I've only had a catheter once, after they removed my cancer containing prostate.
I was out when it was installed, but not when it was removed a few days later, removal was extremely unpleasant.

When I had the first one I was only 10. It was done at the US Navy hospital in Philadelphia. The put me under for the procedure, and it was all done and they pulled it out before waking me up.

They didn't tell me that because of my age, the diameter of my urethra was smaller than the diameter of the scope, and they had to make an incision the entire length. After recovery was done and they moved me back to my room, I slept a bit. When I woke up I had to pee. So I hopped out of the bed, and trotted to the bathroom. As soon as I began it was apparent something was wrong.

It burned so bad I nearly squeezed my boyhood off.

I screamed.

A nurse came in response to my scream, covered her mouth as she must have found the sight of me amusing and was beginning to laugh.

After composing herself she apologetically offered that the incision had been made, no one had bothered to tell me, and there would be some discomfort for a few days.

I was afraid to pee after that.

I swear doctors sit around and dream up sadistic procedures to apply in the name of better medicine.

I swear.

Oh, yeah.

One more thing.

My foot hurts.

A lot.

More than I remember it hurting the last time.

Both times they gave me a nerve block at the knee. It works like when the dentist gives Novocaine. Placed around nerve bundles it creates a blockage of the pain signals on their way to the brain.

And it wears off much like the oral anesthesia, slowly over time.

Two years ago the nerve block took nearly a week to wear off. The doctor says that isn't normal, that it generally dissipates over 24 to 48 hours.

This time it seems to have worn off in about 14 hours or so.

I barley slept last night, tossing and turning, nod off a bit then awake to intense pain in my toes and at the metatarsal joint that was fused, and a dull ache where the Achilles tendon was nipped.

The pain meds the doctor gave me aren't doing a thing.

I've been swearing a lot as I cry out in pain.

I can barely keep it together while posting here.

This sucks.

Imagining the pain you're in makes my aches and pains feel petty by comparison.
Hang in there brother!

Welcome back and so sorry to hear about the pain. When do you go back to see them? Maybe they can give you better pain killers.

Send the wife out to Kush 21 for some medicine! (I saw all the billboards in SeaTac when I was there in July.)

"Norwegian Magnus Carlsen has retained his World Chess Championship title, beating US opponent Fabiano Caruana in a tie-breaker event."

Congrats savoche!
We all know you're way too humble to brag about it.
