In the 2nd Dreamlifter shot it looks like the plane is "spouting" (clouds?) just like a whale - shades of the "Super Guppy"!
There aren’t any clouds in that photo.

Mount Rainier is in the background.

But a cloudless sky that day, visibility unlimited.

Never seen it myself, but some boys in the hills nearby here supposedly make some. They call it “Spider”, as they drop a large spider into every jar.

The story is if the hooch kills the spider it is a good batch.

I am not sure the ability to kill is the best judge of a drinkable hooch (in fact the couple of times I have had shine it has been pretty much like drinking paint thinner)

Oh and for the earlier question wine guy delivers Cave Springs wines ...pretty decent reislings and ok Pinot noir. . He doesn’t drink himself so not sure what keeps him warm mid winter

They do look sweet.

So does the Dreamlifter. There are I think 4 of them, made from the 747-400.

I saw them all the time when I was driving Monstro and Company, South Carolina, Wichita, Everett.

Huge.

I work on a different program.

777-300ER, and 777-200F.

The 300ER

(NOT MY PICTURE)

And the 200F

(NOT MY PICTURE)

I have worked in wing structures (majors) assembly, and most recently spars. I like building the spar, the core structure of the wing. It is where the wing construction begins.

I also had the opportunity to do some structures work on the fuselage on this airplane (this very one) and several others. The new 777-X, or -9X or something.

But no work on the wings.

(NOT MY PICTURE)
What, no winglets? I thought they were all the rage for saving fuel these days.

Good morning all. Sorry Dave for dropping a shocker like that on the Australian/New Zealand crowd and running away. Fret not though, the weekend is here for you and almost here for us lagging behind in the time department. We'll be up early tomorrow and heading out to a friend's cottage in the wilderness. If I am lucky, there will be no cloud cover. In that case, the camera_that_must_not_be_named will get the 14mm bolted on for some night sky shots. Bacon. Yes, there will most certainly be bacon consumed the next day.

I had the same thought.

But there is that tequila that has the worm in it . . . . . . . .

I've only sampled backwoods distilled spirits once.

Calling the taste paint thinner is giving it praise.

Just the tiny taste I took helped me decide that stuff is better suited as paint stripper.

Be sure to wear your flannel lined shorts, insulated sandals, and winter thickness ankle socks.

Gonna be pretty brisk out there.

It felt like a black and white kind of day...

I've gone colour again, whilst maintaining a vintage vibe

Surely someone has the 'igh falutin' words to describe the palette of paint thinner, having deliberately or accidentally having tried it.

And I see you have a proper keyboard with a "ou" key on it.

Said with the accent of a Buckingham Palacite, "It is an awfully nice hooch, with hints of kerosene, dog excrement, and a subtle but discernible aftertaste of Cee Three Atech Six Oh."

(All photos scrounged up on the internets)

The 737 has evolved the upturned winglet into a double up and down afair.

The other planes have gone from the upturned winglet to a slightly upturned wingtip. They call it a raked wingtip.

777-300ER

787

747

777X Folding Tip to meet the requirements that airliners wingspan fits the global specification for airport gates.

Strictly speaking, that is not Tequila but Mescal, tequila is only made from a single type of Agave (Blue) and onl;y in the Jalisco area. Mescal can be made from 28 different varieties of agave anywhere in oaxaand is smokier and sweeter than tequila (though technically tequila is mescal)

"The Worm
Mezcal is widely known for the agave “worm” (or gusano) that floats toward the bottom of the bottle. It is primarily a marketing gimmick to help boost sales, especially in the United States and in Asia. In fact, it is not a “worm” at all, but one of two insect larvae (a caterpillar of a night butterfly or the larvae of the agave snout weevil) that can infest yucca and agave plants.

Tequila never (ever!) has a worm in the bottle"

Tequila is my teenage alcohol poisoning drink, couldn't even smell the stuff for close to 2 decades . like it now , prefer mescal it makes more interesting cocktails (i leave the worm behind though )
